President Joe Biden believes the next few years in politics will set the stage for generations, expressing this theme in recent speeches.
“Our lifetimes are going to be shaped by what happens the next year to three years,” Biden said. “It’s going to shape what the next couple of decades look like. For real.”

During the Carter misadministration I had a talk with an old timer, he was in his early 90’s. He was of the opinion that every generation had to elect a fool. Much like the child that has to burn itself on the hot stove or something. Like the child with the burned finger learns that hot HURTS, so voters need to be reminded that stupid hurts us all.
I think that old man was on to something.
He’s got more to fear than that if he doesn’t repent.

They say that before everything election. every election is “America at the crossroads, and this is the most important election in our life time”.
The crossroads is true, but every election is important, and no election is actually more important than all the others, it only feels more important because it’s the current one.
I think they mean “geriatric” not “generational.”

I had a long conversation with a couple of delightful young working-class guys yesterday. One of them was eyeing my bookcases and reminiscing about home-schooling his kids during CoVid. Said he wasn't active politically before that. Food for thought.
