President Trump made a big unforced error attacking DeSantis at his rally the other day.
Not just because he did so just before an election day on which the Republicans simply must destroy the Democrats–after all, Governor DeSantis doesn’t need Trump’s support to win. If Trump went into full attack mode it wouldn’t dent DeSantis’ reputation one little bit.
So Trump’s attack is electorally irrelevant (which in itself is an unforced error, as it shows Trump to be weaker than he wants to look against a political rival).
Trump’s attack was a mistake because he opened up an old wound that could be Trump’s Achilles’ Heel: his huge mistakes dealing with COVID. Mistakes that DeSantis saw early and rejected quickly. Unnoticed by many, he has attacked Kemp in Georgia as well, which is truly bizarre as his attacks would help Stacey Abrams, a particularly disliked figure among Republicans. Trump once quipped that Stacey Abrams would be a better governor than Kemp–something nobody outside the Left believes. Kemp, though, will not be hurt by Trump’s jibes either.
Both Kemp and DeSantis were more right on COVID when it mattered than Trump.

As far as an “attack” - it rates a one.
Attack? My wife has called me worse.
It was poorly timed and unnecessary. The GOP always seems to shoot itself in the foot.
Outside the media I doubt anyone noticed— except here.
Yep....Trumps greatest asset can also be his Achilles heal.
Bad move, agreed.
But not nearly as important as some want us to think. Time to move on.
So this’ll be tonight’s official TDS thread ?
The only person hurt in this episode was DeSantis.
He acted out of complete hubris with his ‘8th day’ add.
He acted in a manner that was cringeworthy and deserved to be criticized for his behavior.
Not sure who is advising him, but he needs to get some new staff.
It wasn’t THAT bad... but, I hate seeing our two BEST attacking each other.
This story yet again. Not much of an “attack” more like a slight jab.
Trump is not the sharpest political knife in drawer. He has made many bad appointments in high levels in his administration. But I admire Trump for his love of putting America first and avoiding bloood & treasure in foreign wars. So I can overlook his political mistakes.
Trump flushing out his enemies like the author of this piece.
It was a shot across DeSantis bow. Timing was perfect for effect. It couldn’t harm DeSantis in the governors race. But it drew maximum attention to those thinking of stepping up to push the governors candidacy.
To paraphrase Dylon Thomas- Orange man is not going gently into that good night.

True. When bucks with huge antlers fight each other they are sometimes found after the spring thaw, their entangled antlers still attached to their starved bodies.
We have a country to save and a population of traitors to.... well, let’s say there are too many of them now.
Some pundits make a living picking scabs.
Thought you would have learned your lesson in 2016.
You people are going to find out about the Republican-conservative coalition the hard way, it seems.
Oh God No.
Must be one posted every couple of hours over the last 2 days.
Don’t worry. This thread will have the usual gaggle of @ 30 people posting the same sh*t the posted on the other ones . So stick around. You’ll be all caught up in about half an hour.
Take notes. Pass them on to Trump.😂
