This is not baffling. A UFO is baffling. Ordering your troops into a suicidal battle is treasonous or worse.

I don't care who shouts at who. We don't belong in the Ukraine. Our country is tanking and Russian soldiers shouting at a general or whatever don't warrant sending billions of support to the Ukraine.
In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled "This drawdown will bring the total U.S. military assistance for Ukraine to an unprecedented more than $18.3 billion since the beginning of the Administration." ~ Blinken, FarCenter wrote: |
$125 / American household so far. |
I think there's more but they've got a shell game going. Congress asked for funds separately?
Congress to vote on $12.3 billion Ukraine aid package
But there's this text which seems to indicate parallel or separate from Biden's 'donations'
"The package includes $7.5 billion in military assistance and another $4.5 billion in economic and humanitarian support, on par with
the amounts the White House asked for earlier this month as part of its latest Ukraine supplemental request."
So I followed that link and it says in the first week of September, " .....President Joe Biden’s new $13.7 billion funding request for Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s invasion...."

Naval Infantry? Do they walk on water? I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of Naval Infantry so maybe it’s the rooski equivalent to our Marines.

‘Elite’
I remember when Stormin’ Norman Swartzcroft was getting ready to take on the ‘incredible’ Republican Guard. They stated that Iraq had the state-of-the-art Russian equipment, so not just the Republican Guard, but Russian Air Defense, etc. We warned the Russians back then, and Trump warned them when we had to take on Isis in Syria. Both times many Russians died.
I pray the Russian soldiers that escape from the tyranny can live a long life somewhere, and perhaps return to Russia when it is safe.

Real casualties are, essentially, a state secret.
Both sides can be expected to hold them close to the vest.
Claiming you are really winning, after a serious defeat, goes back as far as Egyptian Pharoes.

One thing out of all of this that I do believe, is that the Russian military isn’t what we’ve been told all of these years.
Not a paper tiger by any means but I’m really left wondering about the quality of their equipment, battlefield technology and warfighter preparation
Would appear to me that their upper level leadership are/were all yes men and afraid to provide proper intelligence and Soldier/equipment preparedness stats to Putin. .

There are also rumors from Ukraine that Sullivan has pressed Zelensky to launch a Kherson campaign as soon as possible. Zelensky is said to have agreed to do so.
But the Ukrainian army does not want to do that - at least not now. The Russian troops in the area have been reinforced. The fields are muddy and can not be crossed by heavy vehicles. Russian artillery attacks destroy equipment pre-positioned for the attack before it is ready to come near the front line.
The Ukrainian military has for weeks tried probing attacks in the Kherson region. These had no significant results while the attacking units had high losses. The units deployed around the region have been there since early October or longer. The Military Land deployment map shows only one unit that arrived just five days ago. The 98th Azov battalion, one of the fascist volunteer forces, has been positioned in the back of 128th Mountain Assault Brigade which, in recent weeks, has had some of the most serious losses.
The use of such 'nationalist' forces to prevent the retreat of exhausted front line units has been a regular occurrence in this war.
Ukraine has for weeks had no success on the battle field. Washington wants it to show such a success so that it can tell its allies that the war can be won by the Ukrainian side. The push for an attack on Kherson is again part of the overall campaign to convince Europeans that they should sustain the efforts to arm and support Ukraine.
The campaign is misleading. Ukraine is losing the war badly. But the U.S. wants to fight Russia down to the last Ukrainian - and down to the last Euro.

Would help to arrange an immediate CEASE FIRE.
Ukraine keeps the land that it presently holds.
Russia keeps the Crimea.
Otherwise:
a) Russia maintains Kherson territory east of the Dnieper River
b) the remaining, presently contested Ukrainian terrority along the border with Russia, that Ukraine has not able to hold, becomes a DE-MILITARIZED ZONE where the Ukraine citizenry can return to, for agricultural activity and support
c) a “shortest route possible land bridge” strip thru Kherson, thence directly to Russia, agreed upon by Ukraine and Russia, connects Crimea and Russia
d) administration and governance of the UKRAINE DE-MILITARIZED ZONE becomes the work of both Ukraine and Russia as neighbors, helping each other to learn how to get along
e) Ukraine does not join NATO
f) Russia withdraws from Georgia and from all land that Russia seized from Georgia, since the Russian invasion of 2008.

From the Jerusalem Post.....
“Russian Ministry of Defense refutes claims
The Russian Ministry of Defense, according to RIA, did not deny that the letter was actually sent from the front, but claimed that the losses in the unit were much smaller than those claimed and that no more than 1% of the soldiers in it were killed and 7% were injured, “many of which have already returned to active duty.”
Contrary to what the letter claimed, the Ministry of Defense claimed that in the course of 10 days the unit had advanced 5 km (over 3 miles) into Ukrainian defensive positions. The statement specifically denied that the brigade’s commanders had shown incompetence.”
Me thinks the MOD protests too much
