Elite Russian Naval Unit Reacts to Stunning Loss of 300 Men in Pavlivka: 'Baffling'

High-ranking unit in the Russian navy is reeling after experiencing significant losses in a recent offensive.

The 155th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade was involved in Wednesday attack on a Ukrainian military garrison in Pavlivka, a town southwest of the recently annexed Donetsk region, according to The Moscow Times on Monday. The offensive intended to give Russian forces access to a key supply line in the area.

In the wake of the offensive, the elite naval unit is reportedly pointing the finger at "baffling" leadership decisions that led to the loss of roughly 300 men. These complaints were made in a letter shared by a handful of Russian media figures online, which was sent by the unit to regional leaders in its home region in Russia's Far East.

The introductory paragraph saw the marines of the unit accuse their leaders of being motivated by pay bonuses, promises, and military honors.

"Once again, we were thrown into a baffling offensive by General Muradov and his fellow countryman Akhmedov in order for Muradov to earn bonuses in front of [Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff for the Russian military] and Akhmedov Muradov promised a hero of Russia," the letter reads, as translated by the online program, Yandex. "As a result, we and the Kamchatka Marines are advancing on Pavlivka. As a result of a 'carefully' planned offensive by the 'great commanders', we lost about 300 people killed, wounded, and missing in 4 days. 50 percent of the equipment. This is just our team."

The letter accuses their leaders of hiding the true statistics from higher-ups for fear of facing accountability for their failures. They also accused them of leading men into doomed offensives for the sake of boosting their own prestige.

"The district command together with [the brigade commander] are hiding this..

Imma go out on a limb and say “common Ukrainian soldiers” is a euphemism for proxy special ops dudes and dudettes. We are not spending $20B so a former comedian can fight Russia.

So far 65,000 Russians have been killed. That's around 1/3 of the size of the invasion force.

Apparently Putin was able to mobilize 300,000 troops. So the war is not even half over.

According to Col Douglas MacGregor, America and other western nations built the Ukrainian army up to 600,000troops for the express purpose of attacking Russia.

In the first few months of the conflict, most of Ukraine's best fighters were killed. At present MacGregor says that the Ukranians have had 100,000 soldiers killed, anywhere from 200,000 to 400,000 injured and now are resorting to 'canon fodder', people with little training and experience.

40% of the power grid was down meaning Kyiv may have to evacuate it's 3 million residents. Blackouts are common due to damage and the grid is not sufficiently powered to handle the coming cold weather.

Putin will cease utilizing the volunteers currently conducting combat operations in the Ukraine and will switch to more experienced trained Russian Army troops. The missiles Russia used to disable the electrical grid will continue to fall as Zelensky refuses to concede,  thereby leaving the citizens inthe dark as winter approaches.

I think most people without strong feelings in favor of either side probably think that Ukraine must be doing relatively well because they still exist and Russia must be doing relatively badly because they are still fighting in the same areas.

The sooner this ends, the better, nothing good is going to come from this.

Naval Infantry? Do they walk on water? I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of Naval Infantry so maybe it’s the rooski equivalent to our Marines.

This “letter” has been debunked. It was in Russian and when translated said nothing at all like what is claimed. It also appeared to be a machine translation into Russian from some other original language.

None of this Pavlika story ever happened.

ACTUALLY, it's about 100,000 Ukrainian KIA to 10-12,000 RuZZian KIA.

If you lump the Ukrainian civilian KIA from 8 months of shelling, rocketing, missile attack and execution by Infantry evidenced by mass graves in destroyed cities then the 100k number is realistic. As far as Ukrainian military dead, everyone's playing those numbers tight to the vest.

“Zero Ukrainian casualties, as usual.”

The article didn’t say that. The article just didn’t mention Ukrainian casualties. It didn’t say, “There were zero Ukrainian casualties,” or “There were no Ukrainian casualties.”

Your bias is well known; but don’t compound it by making sh!t up.

“ACTUALLY, it’s about 100,000 Ukrainian KIA to 10-12,000 RuZZian KIA.”

That wouldn’t surprise me, since Russia has been killing a lot of Ukrainian civilians.

‘Elite’

I remember when Stormin’ Norman Swartzcroft was getting ready to take on the ‘incredible’ Republican Guard. They stated that Iraq had the state-of-the-art Russian equipment, so not just the Republican Guard, but Russian Air Defense, etc. We warned the Russians back then, and Trump warned them when we had to take on Isis in Syria. Both times many Russians died.

I pray the Russian soldiers that escape from the tyranny can live a long life somewhere, and perhaps return to Russia when it is safe.

“According to Col Douglas MacGregor, America and other western nations built the Ukrainian army up to 600,000troops for the express purpose of attacking Russia.”

That right there cements the lack of credibility of MacGregor.

No one — and I mean NO ONE — would ever contemplate attacking Russia with only 600,000 troops.

Real casualties are, essentially, a state secret.

Both sides can be expected to hold them close to the vest.

Claiming you are really winning, after a serious defeat, goes back as far as Egyptian Pharoes.

I believe in maps showing who holds what territory. As it stands now, Ukraine has regained territory lost(with substantial American hardware) and Russia isn’t the cold war juggernaut we thought it was and has a hard time beating a barely second world nation.
Putin maybe fighting with one hand tied behind his back but Mother Russia has a lot of territory to defend from hungry neighbors (cough, cough China) and cannot afford to go “whole hog” into Ukraine.

Beyond that, is anyone’s guess.
