Gov. Ricketts Temporarily Waives Regulations for Truckers Hauling Critically Needed Fuels
LINCOLN – Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued Executive Order 22-06 to provide emergency relief on account of regional fuel shortages. The order temporarily allows drivers to work extended hours to haul gasoline or gasoline blends, diesel, fuel oil, ethanol, propane, and biodiesel.
By facilitating increased fuel transportation, the Governor’s order will help reduce delays at petroleum product terminals in order to make fuels more readily available to consumers.
The order is effective immediately and will remain in effect through November 30, 2022.
And by signing this order the idiot governor proves it is regulation that is causing the shortage in the first place.
We really have stupid people in government.
I’m surprised he has the authority to do this, but this is a good start.
bttt
I’m surprised he has the authority to do this, but this is a good start.
Great! So why did the governor not sign this order the second the idiots in the federal government created the stupid regulation? Why did the governor wait until stupid regulation caused a crisis?
Republican governor inaction is as bad as democrat party action thus making them all idiots.
He asked Deep State for a waiver.
Looks like Deep State will give it to him.
One wonders why...
Governors need to do more, remember it was the states first before they agreed to a federal government. Cant understand why Abbott and other governors of southern border states form a united front and send in their national guard to close their state borders
2. When it comes to hours of service rules, a governor can effectively waive them without even announcing it — simply by having the state police refuse to enforce it.
3. This measure may help, but it doesn’t get to the heart of the real problem in the trucking industry: a shortage of drivers with tanker endorsements for their CDLs.
“This measure may help, but it doesn’t get to the heart of the real problem in the trucking industry: a shortage of drivers with tanker endorsements for their CDLs.”
Is the pay too low to attract people? Are the hoops you have to hop through to get certified too onerous?
Any FR truckers around to chime in?
Lifting weight restrictions in agricultural states is very common. Especially during harvest. Iowa does it annually I believe. Probably same in Nebraska.
Why isn't the gov calling for an export ban...?
That's a big part of it.
I’ve always wondered why Tanker Trucks even need to stop at weigh stations.
Milk or Fuel have a set weight per gallon, so they have a known, maximum weight they can weigh.
Its not like they are going to be hauling Mercury one time.
Another reason Deep State has a mad-on for truckers, especially the little guys...

... because statistically the electorate is very stupid. It coincidentally started at the time the 19th amendment was passed.
The overall weight of the truck isn’t the only consideration. Maximum per-axle weights are even more important when it comes to pavement deterioration. So it’s not just a matter of how much weight a truck is carrying, but how the load is distributed.
He has the authority if it's intrastate trucking. From the FMCSA:
"You are subject to FMCSA regulations if you operate any of the following types of commercial motor vehicles in interstate commerce:" [emphasis mine]

UNGN was referring to milk, gasoline, diesel, etc. Are you proposing the driver stop at the scale house to rearrange his load of liquid that's in a tank?
