DOJ mulls special counsel investigation should Trump run again

Department of Justice officials have reportedly discussed the possibility of appointing a special counsel to oversee the investigations related to former President Donald Trump should he opt to run again for the nation's top job in 2024.

Though they are waiting for the midterm elections to pass before making major public moves, the DOJ is reportedly bringing on additional experienced prosecutors and preparing for a potential slew of indictments against major figures in Trump world, CNN reported, citing "sources familiar with the matter."

"Now federal investigators are planning for a burst of post-election activity in Trump-related investigations," CNN reported. "That includes the prospect of indictments of Trump's associates – moves that could be made more complicated if Trump declares a run for the presidency."

Trump has previously faced a special counsel investigation from Robert Mueller, who explored the now-thoroughly-debunked Trump-Russia collusion narrative.

While the DOJ seeks to avoid the appearance of partisan political activity, federal officials have already prompted a bevy of external criticism for alleged political persecution, most notably in the wake of the FBI's raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in early August. Officials reportedly hope that an independent special counsel handling Trump matters might insulate the DOJ somewhat from accusations of partisanship, though Trump-related issues are far from the only matters attracting such scrutiny.

The American Stasi won’t be going away on their own, if you get my drift.

Never happen. He would hire most of them as he did in his first term.
But no worries, they will not let Trump have a second term.

If the Republican’s take the house and Senate, they need to bring DOJ leadership to Capitol Hill and tell the that there budget is zero...and that they need to justify every dollar they are spending. Starting with... why isn’t there a special counsel investigating the Biden’s corruption in China?

“Them firing up the coup/impeachment assembly line again was a given. This would be the first unit off the new line.”

They’ll need control of House and Senate to do that.

The plan is to keep Trump from qualifying as a candidate or at the very least, erode his base of support with a long trumped-up investigation/indictment/show trial extending into the 2024 primary season.

Stupid plan.
All they will do is INCREASE President Trump's support even as Dementia Joe's “support” collapses.
Creepy Joe is running really scared for a guy who claims he got 81 million votes. Chuckle.

It is almost like they are pushing him to declare his run for President in 2024.

No, not really. The Obama gang owns the FBI/DOJ goonarama. The coup/impeachment assembly line ran full bore during the GOP majority in both houses 2016-2018. I don’t believe a POTENTIAL Uniparty (R) majority would be the ones who would appoint the open ended independent prosecutor either. To have such an innocent view of DC you obviously haven’t been paying attention the last six years.

Republicans need to realize this is not about Trump.

I am at a loss to understand why the cucks fail to recognize this. We are faced with an opponent for whom every R candidate is "literally Hitler". Even surrender cucks like Jeb and Mitt. No degree of compromise with the leftists will satisfy them. Indeed, the weakness telegraphed by the RINOs is like blood in the water.

Trump is the man of the hour to save America. Stand with him!

The DOJ cannot disqualify anyone for Presidential office.

“To have such an innocent view of DC you obviously haven’t been paying attention the last six years.”

No need to be rude, FRiend.

I believe impeachment is a congressional act.

But perhaps I’m incorrect and you can enlighten me.

“Impeachment/COUP” assembly line. I’m not trying to be rude, just curious. Assume Trump wins and you have Uniparty (R) hacks McConnell and McCarthy running the GOP majorities. That is the EXACT SAME situation as when the impeachment/coup assembly went into hyper mode once Trump got to Washington. Am I wrong? If you were paying attention in 2016, why such a rose colored view of both wings of the DC Uniparty in 2022?

Ok. I went back and reviewed the sequence. My memory was correct. Here’s my thinking.

Trump entered office in 2016. I don’t think “impeachment hyperdrive” started until the Dems took Congress in 2018, but I could have missed something. We DID have squishy pubs.

Pelosi initiated the investigation in 2019. He was impeached in 2019.

In the future we have a lot of “ifs:”

1. Trump runs in 2024
2. Trump wins
3. I think it’s unlikely that the Congress goes Dem at that time. With luck, we’ll have fewer Rhinos. Who knows?
4. In 2026, congress goes Dem

If all those things occur, perhaps we’ll see another impeachment in 2027. My crystal ball gets hazy looking ahead 24 hours. ;)

In fact, because of Pelosi, we’ll probably see a lot more impeachments as political acts. She’s horrible.

Coup, my FRiend, Coup. As in 2016, the numerous ongoing coups set up the impeachments, the impeachment “investigations” set up the next round of coups. McConnell, McCarthy and probably worst of all, Graham, running the Judiciary Committee will do their Uniparty (R) roll over AGAIN! I’m thinking I haven’t conveyed to you what I mean by impeachment/coup assembly line. From very early 2016 on there have been numerous coups attempts, one actual impeachment, the ever constant drumbeat and investigations for numerous other impeachment attempts. Many of these coups and impeachment processes were ongoing simultaneously. There are two undeniable givens if the GOP sweeps the house, senate and presidency in ‘24. The Uniparty (R) oligarchs in DC will do NOTHING but talk. The Intelligence Community will be operating numerous domestic and foreign coups against Trump. That is exactly what happened in 2016 and that’s exactly what will happen in 2024. If I were a betting man (and I am), I’d give you odds that that scenario would ensure repeats of 2018 and ‘20 with their subsequent thefts of the house twice, senate once and another presidency.

If they do have a special counsel wait until Trump brings in Special Papers.

I wouldn’t count on that. The Republicans never had Trumps back. He disrupted their gravy train too.

This is a political threat by a politicized DOJ. Garland should be prison-bound at some point in time, hopefully sometime in 2023.

But after, Republicans have the Senate majority, they need to vote McConnell out. He is a Magical Democrat.
