Republicans have the edge over Democrats with one week to go before the midterm elections — boosted by a major swing toward the GOP among white suburban women, a new poll released on Tuesday found.
The Wall Street Journal survey shows 46% of registered voters would support the Republican candidate in their congressional district, while 44% would support the Democrat.
While the GOP’s edge is within the poll’s margin of error, the survey shows Republicans erasing Democrats’ three-percentage-point lead on the generic ballot from August (47%-44%).
The poll also shows white suburban women — who the Journal’s pollsters say make up 20% of the electorate — favor the GOP by 15 percentage points, a 26-point swing from August.
A whopping 71% of voters believe the economy is going in the wrong direction, a nine-point jump from August, while just 19% say it’s headed in the right direction.
At the same time, 71% also say the country is heading in the wrong direction – a three percentage point increase from August and an eight percentage point hike from March.
“The focus on the economic stuff, particularly inflation, is helpful to the GOP headed into the final stretch,” Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio, who conducted the survey with Democratic pollster John Anzalone, told the Journal.

Virtue signalling loses some of its appeal to women, when they notice that they are in actual physical danger from the people they were catering to.
But scraping out babies for stem cells and body parts is all that matters to women voters?
I firmly believe the pollsters and the media want to “keep it close” to drive viewership and ratings to sell advertising and generate more revenue

If Trump was in office and he had this poll “At the same time, 71% also say the country is heading in the wrong direction” The fake news would blast it everyday until it went to 80%.
Self interest wins over virtue signaling. Even those crazy white women can do that math.

I think they ALWAYS screw themselves over when they try to manipulate the #s. Typically it just makes the GOP vote more and the left vote less.
Left is more likely to say, oh we are going to win anyway so they stay home. GOP will vote and say not over my dead body will I not vote and contribute to that lefty winning.
Or the Left is likely to say, o polls say we are going to lose so I don’t need to vote.
But if it is truly close then the left not only votes, they vote for others that didn’t realize they voted.
And pollsters may be revising their polls, so that their polls will be close to the actual results. And if they are doing that, then we would see the GOP gaining in the polls, so the polls aren’t too far off when we see the actual election results.
Theoretically anyway, these pollsters want to show that their polls accurately predicted the final results.
There are a lot of women to whom abortion is the sacred cow and the guide stone over all their other political beliefs.
There is a segment of women who value life and wouldn’t personally get an abortion but who have been convinced over the years that it is an important choice to be able to have, but when put into perspective, for them, it’s an ideal in the more academic (feminist) sense, and not a kitchen table issue. A lot of sheltered upper class liberals do not realize that everyday Suburban women don’t like their standard of living getting attacked.
Remember the way the media shouted at Trump right after the 2018 Midterms and said he’s lost suburban women?
GOP leads everywhere add up up to the usual two points.

I like all the black and Asian couples myself.
I know plenty of educated white suburban women whose hatred of democrats makes my white hot loathing of dems pale in comparison!
White suburban women apparently realizing that economic and social disaster may be worse than mean tweets.
