Good evening and Blessed Lord’s Day to you too!

And yeah. I had a lot of wild friends always up to no good. Nothing serious or career-limiting. Just the usual drunken hijinks of enlisted USMC infantry absent adult supervision.

Luckily for me, I always remained just sober enough to ... um... rise above it? Yeah. That’s the ticket. Rise above it.

I wasn’t there alone. Freddy and James were there but Freddy doesn’t do tours. James does when he’s up to it (has a bad heart) but he wasn’t up to it yesterday. They sat in the front room and greeted folks who came in. I got one tour in, then “floated” the rest of the day, checking with people to see if they had questions and such.

There were several working today and we all stayed on the go. A couple of repeaters showed up with friends who were visiting from out of town. That happens quite a bit.

I guess my favorite tour today was with three couples who showed up on their motorcycles. Two of the guys were veterans. The wives got bored fairly quickly and went back outside but the guys had a great time going through and seeing all of our cool artifacts. They really enjoyed the prototypes.

It sounds like we had about the same kind of wind. The military flags we place out by the highway and our big American flag were all whipping. Fortunately, we aren’t nearly as cold as y’all are. Short distance or not, that had to be a miserable walk to the office, then back to your car. Do you have a large pot your feet will fit into? If so, put some hot water in it and put your feet in there to warm them up. That’s what I do when my tootsies get cold and won’t thaw out.

YAY! I was wondering if the ducks were coming back yet. Glad they are and I’m right there with you in hoping that dratted hawk has moved on to other territory.

Howdy, luvie.

How are things down your way? Going well this weekend?

Not too bad here. Highs in the low 70s but the wind took a little fun out of it. Now we’re hoping to get a little rain tonight and tomorrow. Dusty’s finishing up our fields, planting winter wheat, we assume. He doesn’t put out poo for fertilizer for rye. He plants rye to turn it under in the spring to BE fertilizer.

Good evening, TigerHawk, and Shavua Tov to you and yours.

What a huge memory you made for your daughter, but your poor grandson. LOL!

I am well, but really tired. We finally got another person in our department and maybe the pressure of being short for 6 months will start to let up.

Hey there, radu!

Things have been great here. We had a windy day that brought cooler temps in the 60s. Today and yesterday were just about perfect. Not sure how it will be tomorrow but know it’ll still be nice and cool.

Sorry you had wind, but sounds like our temperatures were very similar. Did you have some fun tours at the museum?

Your temps will be here tomorrow and Monday, then we get back into the 70s for the rest of the week.

Had a good, busy weekend at the museum and several fun tours. My poor tootsies feel every step too. LOL

Keep the Lord’s Day in the Lord’s way.

A blessed Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost & Reformation Sunday (Western...the later for Protestants)/Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost (Orthodox) to all!

Well, you’ll love these temperatures if they include lots of blue skies and sunshine. Me? I’d love a good thunderstorm. We had a small one on about Thursday night, but only got 1/16th” of rain. Phooey!

I’ll bet your feet ARE tired. That’s a huge building! I wish you had a step counter. I’ll bet it would be a HUGE amount! LOL! But it being fun makes it soooo worthwhile!

I was practicing.

There was always the off-chance that someone would screw up and promote me to SNCO.

If that happened, I needed to be adept at such things as explaining how the Marines under my charge didn’t “really” steal that jeep, or weren’t “actually” drinking in the barracks. And such.

Life skills.

Gotta work ‘em to have ‘em.

I am looking forward to the temps. There’s only a little rain in the forecast and I wish there was more. The bulk of the rain tonight will stay west of us, durn it, but we might get a shower or two.

I’ve thought about getting a step counter but then again, maybe I don’t WANT to know how far I really walk on weekends. LOL It wouldn’t be nearly as bad if it wasn’t on concrete.

I thought we only had two weekends left but they’re talking about staying open through the weekend after Veterans Day. Works for me!

It’s 54 here right now, which is 10 degrees cooler than y’all are tonight. I love it. There is no wind, so it’s quite comfortable outside. The kitties seem very happy.

Yeah, if you knew how many steps you take, you might be even tireder than you already are. LOL! Awesome that the museum is staying open through Veteran’s Day. Makes sense, too!

Made that hat to last!

Halloween was always fun. Like you I’m situated in a rural area on the outskirts of a very small town that got its first and only traffic light maybe 10 years ago (TOTALLY SCREWED UP EASILY FLOWING TRAFFIC) so, like you, there’s no trick or treat kids that come by, but in town there’s a wonderful woman who must be in her very late 80’s, early 90’s, now, who is still spry and active, and every year since forever ago she does up her house as THE Halloween House. Always different from year to year. we never miss it.

Also, we live within striking distance of Woodstock, THE
WOODSTOCK! WHERE HALLOWEEN IS A RELIGIOUS HIGH HOLY DAY!
GREAT PARADE AND PARTY!!!

HALLOWEEN IS ONE OF THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF THE FALL SEASON.

I’d say you succeeded with the hat! LOL

One traffic light? Lucky you! I hope nothing happens to increase the population so it can stay a nice, small town. We had only one for ages, then TVA dammed up the river and created large lake. People started building houses along the lakeshore and a second light was added after a while. We now have three. And a LOT of people building and buying houses are from Nashville or from out of state. We’re being invaded and we don’t like it.

I thought about decorating the yard when I first moved here but no one would be able to see it. We’re too far off the road, and we really don’t want a lot of people coming up the driveway to see it.

I don’t think anyone around here has THE Halloween House like the lady in your town. If someone does, I haven’t heard about it. I’d certainly check it out.
I had no idea they went all out like that at Woodstock. It sounds like a lot of fun.

There are a few haunted woods and a couple of mazes set up at farms around here but Hubby isn’t interested in going. No fun going alone so I haven’t.
He let go of Peter Pan long ago. I still have a death grip and refuse to grow up. LOL

She wore that hat for many a year. One year there was a light rain and the black dye in the cloth I made the hat out of (stitched over a cardboard frame with sail cloth needle and pliers...all stitches hidden...a museum piece!) bled out all over her! We thought that the next Halloween she’d have to go as the TAR BABY! It was a hoot and a half!

In my particular outfit we had only one rule that could not be broken. If it was broken you were punished severely.

DON’T

GET

CAUGHT!

We once had 5 women of dubious character (OK, there was no real question about their character) in the barracks at a party at Jumpmaster School, Ft. Lee, VA.

Isn’t it wonderful to be young and crazy?...yet dutiful unto Death! The vast majority of American men have no idea at all what that’s like...and a Jarhead yet! G-d has blessed you!

KEEP THE FAITH.

I waited til dark tonight. As soon as I go out the door the motion light comes on. All I said was, “Hi Duckies”...nothing more and a bunch came up. So some still remember the place. LOL!

I don’t know if the hawk can hunt in the dark. Several years ago, just as it was getting light, a hawk and an owl were fighting over “a body”. I’ve always thought the owl made the kill. Maybe? Maybe not?
