Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen finalized their divorce in recent days after 13 years of marriage, the Buccaneers quarterback announced on Instagram Friday.
“We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together,” Brady wrote on his Instagram story. “We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parent to always ensure they receive the love an attention they deserve.”
Reports of “marital issues” between Brady and Bündchen emerged after the seven-time Super Bowl champion un-retired shortly after walking away from the NFL following the 2021–22 season. Brady later took a leave of absence during training camp to “deal with personal things,” Bucs coach Todd Bowles said at the time.
Brady and Bündchen had reportedly been “living separately” prior to Friday’s announcement and CNN reported earlier this week that the couple had hired divorce attorneys.
“Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world,” Brady continued on Instagram. “However, we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives are yet to be written.”
Bündchen released a similar statement on Instagram Friday, asking for privacy on the matter moving forward.
“The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always,” she wrote.
The couple had been married since 2009 and have two children together.

He’s pretty stupid too. Two lost souls.
But with all the world has to offer.
It must be so tough to be a mega rich football wife
Such pressure, so hard to stay together…
Sarc
I think I’d be very worried about injury, especially as he aged.

Divorce is always tragic.
Whether or not it would have held the marriage together, Brady should have kept his original choice and retired at the end of last season. Without Brady, the Bucs would have a better excuse for being a 3-5 midseason bomb.
She’s richer that him from her modeling. I hope he got alimony. /s
Another successful 13 yr celebrity marriage!
He’ll be dating Lady Gaga or Kim Kardashian next week. Tom is the GOAT but not so much the GOAT when it comes to women. One he left 8 months preggo with his kid, and the other doing this Brett Farve act.
Winners and losers.
The man loses. The woman loses. The kids lose.
The lawyers win.
I don;t see how a guy can give up a really great wife and spending more time with his young kids for playing football, especially since he’s already played longer and at the top more than anyone else.
Height of stupidity if you ask me.
As a former Pats fan (I divorced the NFL when they started kneeling at the National Anthem) I wonder whose idea it was for him to leave the Pats. Since he left I wanted him to fail with Tampa Bay and now that’s happening. Given that she makes more than him will that mean that he gets alimony?
Actually she’s richer than Tom is.
I knew a guy many years ago who was in his 70s and a layoff came that resulted in a colleague of his with young kids getting laid off because everyone was scared to layoff older guys because concern for lawsuits. The older guy went in and said "I am only working because I don't want to spend time with my wife. But I'll go if it saves his job." And they allowed it. He cant be the only one who shelters himself from a tough marriage by burying himself in work.
I highly doubt Tom is low maintenance either.
I’ve been known to stay at work late on some nights because I don’t want to deal with my wife either. It happens.
the thing is they both have money and good looks...they each have unlimited options which makes it easier to break up
“I break with thee, I break with thee, I break with thee”, and then you throw dog poop on her shoes.
