My gosh, we had some fun in Mexico
This part of Baja was ‘sketchy’ to say the least by then, but we still had a good time. Yes, my wife and I were still able to ride horses along the beach. It’s a shame what has happened to it.
I enjoy a great story!
I would check out the rules. I even do that when traveling state to state.legal from state to state is one thing but there are federal laws to consider.
Federal law does not recognize the legality of marijuana even in states where it's legal. Usually transporting drugs like marijuana across state lines can be a serious (trafficking) federal offense...
They hate Putin cause he’s as unwoke as orange man
Well, it’s prison... so.... yah
Ms. Griner,
We read with interest the news of your nine year sentence in the gulag. I believe that there a few takeaways from this that you should be aware of...
First, when you go to a foreign country, you must follow their laws. Ignorance of the law is never, has never and will never be, an excuse.
Second, your extremely limited star power that exists in the USA means a hill of beans in the USSR. You’re just another foreigner.
Third, foreign legal systems can be very different than the US. You don’t get a lot of the “rights” that American lawbreakers get. You don’t get endless appeals. You don’t get press coverage. You can’t buy a celebrity lawyer. Their verdict is real and it’s final.
Fourth, the USSR is right now offending most of the planet with its Ukraine attempted takeover. They are looking for anything they can stick it to the US and guess what? You’re a shipment of Russian toilet paper’s worth of ways to mess with us.
Fifth, the USSR takes an extremely dim view of illegal drugs. Just because it’s no big deal to you doesn’t make it any less egregious in their culture. There are some places where possession of illegal substances has zero tolerance. You just offended one of them. You can FEEL otherwise, but Russia doesn’t give a hang about your feelings.
Lastly, remember the United States, that you hate with a passion and you feel is so very unfair? I guess we’re looking better and better aren’t we? For all of your kneeling in defiance and protesting, the America that you were so ashamed of is a much more agreeable place than Moscow, now isn’t it?
You have nine long years to think about these things. I hope you can find a way to turn these years into something positive. When you get out, you will be too old and your body will be too atrophied to try and make a living out of throwing, catching, and bouncing a ball. I imagine that you will lave there in 2031 an angry and bitter person. But, Ms. Griner, your hubris and arrogance put you there.
Perhaps the best legacy of your life will be to demonstrate what happens when you leave all of the protections that come with this country that you protested against so vehemently.
And wouldn’t that be ironic?
And I'm supposed to care, because???
I don't have a shred of sympathy for her. Pfffft.
Vape cartridges ARE e-cigs and they only come in 0.5g and 1.0g sizes. 1.0g of oil is equivalent in active ingredients to one large cigarette.
She had 0.7g total of cannabis oil so it is equivalent to one large partially smoked cannabis cigarette or two small partially smoked cigs.
These cartridges are smaller than most pen caps and easy to forget or drop in a bag accidentally. I agree she broke the law but 95% of MAXIMUM trafficking charges with near death sentence for something this small is absolutely ludicrous even in Russia.
But her? Not a smidgen.
She is the epitome of privleged people who want to take a dump on the Stars and Stripes, but oh, when they find out what REAL tyranny is...
I say let her rot. Sometimes...
I would agree, but the thing is, it is their law, their country, and when I was in the USN, we were repeatedly told not to have or use drugs, even if we saw foreign citizens of that country all around us using them.
Because, being an American, you would be treated quite differently. With NO recourse.

Sometimes I sit and wonder where my little life went wrong
These old jailhouse blues have got me singing this old song
My life is a disaster, Lord and I feel so ashamed
In here where they call by a number, not a name ♪
She was convicted of possessing two cartridges containing 0.252 grams and 0.45 grams of hash oil. I have no sympathy for her. That Russia’s own citizens would be treated more leniently is irrelevant, as she is not one of their citizens. She was guest in their country and she broke the laws of Russia. She previously bashed America as racist and homophobic. She made her bed, and she’s now sleeping in it.
Wahhhhhhh!!!!! I’m more special than the others! Why are you applying the rules to me!!!!?????!!!!
It bothers me that an American citizen is being punished for the actions of her government, but given what the government is up to, I’m afraid there is no way out for her.
Years ago the Navy showed us an interview of a sailor was in the Italian penal system. He was caught with hash, enough to be considered a dealer. Yeah, prison life sucks, especially in another country.
I have told the story a few times, and a freeper told me I was mistaken, but...perhaps the people telling us knew the real sitation but told us anyway to scare us.
When I was in the Med on the USS JFK back in 1977, they told us a sailor on the ship had been caught with drugs on the last Med deployment, and was still in an Italian jail in Naples.
When I went back in 1978, he was still there.
I wonder if it is the same guy.
She is not trans.
