Do the losses take into account the brand and marketing value Boeing receives by having its most recognizable aircraft serve as the world’s most prestigious plane? I should think that is worth hundreds of millions, possibly more over the life of these planes.
........a fixed price multi billion dollar contract with the US Government, or any government, is about as safe a business deal as a beagle puppy is playing on I 35 in downtown Austin at 5 pm.
Boeing KNEW they would lose money going in. Now they are just praying that if they whine about it enough Biden and his marxist dems will print some more money and give it to them. His 10% notwithstanding.
Winning !!!
Delivery date early 2025 works for me ...
Same same. I never claimed there was a difference. I’ve seen Boeing’s invoices after deals were agreed to. If not for eagle-eyed CORs, the fraud would be much worse.
All brought on by the phoney covid
Trump negotiated with them about the ridiculous price of a new Air Force One.
They agreed that instead of lowering the price of 1 plane for several billion, they would deliver 2 for the same price.
This is actually not bad because the setup to make one part is where a lot of the cost comes from, so why not make 2 parts.
Now, under STUPID BI-DUHHHhhhhn, they want to be paid for the second one.
The core competency of government contractors is strategic incompetence.
McNamara brought in cost plus as a way for politicians to launder money through contractors. The whole purpose is to waste money that gets funnelled back as campaign contributions.
That's because they're used to the fedgov teat never running dry.
“It eventually exploded into a huge scandal, and you can be sure that similar practices were (and may still be) going on throughout the defense industry.”
That is absolutely illegal and there are a lot of audits (more tax dollars at work) to make sure that does not happen.
They are called “administrative changes.”
My post was to remind FReepers that the government HAS NO MONEY!
The government either taxes, prints or borrows.
The poor American taxpayer is left to pay for EVERY government spending screwup!
IOW, those who screwup never have to suffer the consequences of their mistakes.
Not a criticism of your post.
Don’t feel sorry for Boeing. Lust look up the cost of the Space Launch System.
Over a decade NASA has given 12 Billion to Boeing to build a rocket that can’t launch. Each subsequent launch will cost 4 billion.
Too much waste in government.
