It was a fake lead manufactured by polling companies to depress Republicans and keep them home on Election Day. That is one thing that never changes. Rush used to hammer that point all the time and, this season, even Victor Davis Hanson is saying it.
It always happens that, as we near election day, the races "tighten" so the pollsters don't get caught saying "Dems are ahead by five points" on election eve. If they did that and got clobbered, they would love future polling jobs.
You can set your calendar by the races "tightening."
Dems won’t discuss the economy, but not because they are stupid.
Their entire policy framework assumes that they can continue to leech off of a prosperous economy. When the economy stumbles, they can’t offer free stuff, nor can they make their usual promises of soaking the rich and slamming corporations.
