WASHINGTON (AP) — Nearly two-thirds of Americans think the federal government is not doing enough to fight climate change, according to a new poll that shows limited public awareness about a sweeping new law that commits the U.S. to its largest ever investment to combat global warming.
Democrats in Congress approved the Inflation Reduction Act in August, handing President Joe Biden a hard-fought triumph on priorities that his party hopes will bolster prospects for keeping their House and Senate majorities in November’s elections.
Biden and Democratic lawmakers have touted the new law as a milestone achievement leading into the midterm elections, and environmental groups have spent millions to boost the measure in battleground states. Yet the poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that 61% of U.S. adults say they know little to nothing about it.
The measure, which passed without a single Republican vote in either chamber, offers nearly $375 billion in incentives to accelerate expansion of clean energy such as wind and solar power, speeding the transition away from fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas that largely cause climate change.
Americans are generally more likely to support than oppose many of the government actions on climate change included in the law, the poll shows.
About half of Americans think government action that targets companies with restrictions is very important, the poll shows, while about a third say that about restrictions on individuals.

All media polls are push polls
If true, which I doubt, we’re screwed.
You can’t power modern civilization with wind and solar. And the basis for the actions being called for is a bunch of Lysenko “science”.
Well, in that case................. NOPE! Fidiots!
1. Define the “correct” temperature range for the planet.
2. Define the “correct” humidity range for the planet.
3. Define the “correct” mean sea level for the planet.
4. Define the “correct” amount of precipitation for the planet.
5. Define the “correct” makeup of the atmosphere.
6. Define the “correct” amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.
7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.
😵💫🤡🐂💩 Now, go get your booster shots.
Why would anyone want to fight climate change? I embrace it. It’s literally what the climate does and has always done. It’s cyclical. It’s cyclical in the same way that your lungs are cyclical. They breathe in and they breathe out.
These folks are nothing more than victims of mass brainwashing, for lack of a better word, by the msm.
I don’t need to read more than the lead-in to this article to know it is bunk. Confirmed when I saw “AP.”
The AP has become one of the most disreputable “news” agency in the country today. Nothing they publish should be trusted.
I have a real difficult time believe this for a second. Go into any city and walk down the street. Tell me that a majority of the people you see give a hoot.
Gee whizz, if these folks were around 12,000 years ago, they could have saved all those big, beautiful glaciers.
“Most in US want more action on climate change: AP-NORC poll”
Most in US want government out of their affairs: Genuine Americans poll.
There...... fixed it.
If it means not being able to heat your house, paying double for a car that can’t go half way across a state, paying more for food, the answer is they don’t really care that much.
The entire man made climate change premise is stupid.
Bull.
So how many “want more action” on high gas prices? On inflation? Or on shortages of baby formula? Or illegal immigration? Or the surge in crime?
This is a push poll that was made for no other reason than to confirm the prejudices and agenda of the AP.
Polling is an art designed to provide the answers you want. If you ask people whether they would like to see more action to combat climate change they will say yes. If you ask people what their major concerns are, climate change is not mentioned.
Ha!!! What ridiculous poll is that???? A strippers pole????
Most Americans don’t really give a damn about climate change. The coming election will effectively take all such thought off the table for at least four more years.
...that will solve a lot of problems.
Climate change is in the cellar behind “undermining democracy” as an issue in the minds of the public. The only thing the two issues have in common is that no one knows what those invented sloganeering terms mean. The PR guy who invented them is just hoping that the candidate can sprout them and there are no follow up questions.
People living in other warm periods knew this and appreciated it.
