An unwritten pact binding the U.S. and Saudi Arabia has survived 15 presidents and seven kings through an Arab oil embargo, two Persian Gulf wars and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Now, it is fracturing under two leaders who don’t like or trust each other.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom’s 37-year-old day-to-day ruler, mocks Biden in private, making fun of the 79-year-old’s gaffes and questioning his mental acuity... He has told advisers he hasn’t been impressed with Mr. Biden since his days as vice president, and much preferred former President Donald Trump ...
Mr. Biden said on the campaign trail in 2020 that he saw “very little social redeeming value in the present government in Saudi Arabia.” He refused to talk to Prince Mohammed for over a year, and when they finally did meet in Jeddah in July, Saudi officials present felt that Mr. Biden didn’t want to be there, and was uninterested in the policy discussions
...
the enmity between Mr. Biden and Prince Mohammed has deepened the tension, and it is likely to get only messier..
Rarely has the chain of broken expectations and perceived insults and humiliations been greater than they are now ..There’s almost no trust and absolutely no mutual respect.
The decision by Saudi-led OPEC+ to cut oil production—raising crude prices at a time of high inflation just before an American election and despite U.S. pleas to hold off
...
In the past, Saudi kings and American presidents were able to smooth out turbulent periods with strong personal relations. In 2005, just a few years after 15 Saudis participated in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, President George W. Bush had hosted Crown Prince Abdullah at his Texas ranch, where the two men were photographed holding hands.

KSA was President Trump's first foreign state visit iirc.
Even I—a real honorary Serb—was invited to give a paid professional seminar in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the early 2000s. I gave the same seminar that I would have given in the USA, but was asked a different set of questions.
I refrained from any comments about foreign policy or criticism of Islam or Muslims. But I did let it be known that I was a Christian when some of my fellow US speakers said bad things about Christianity. NONE of my Arab hosts made any such criticisms!!
Instead, they treated me with wonderful hospitality, honor, and respect.
I’m sure that biden approached the Saudis with arrogance and antagonism, and would have done the same in the UAE. This is hurting our country at a time when we need the Gulf Arabs’ help with our energy problems.

HaHaHa! The Saudi got it right this time!

If you replaced Biden with a week-old meatloaf, we’d be better off.
“If you replaced Biden with a week-old meatloaf, we’d be better off.”
At least the meatloaf would have some value, and purpose.
remember back in the day - two years ago - how Trump was going tp alienate our allies and start a nuclear war with our enemies?
Trump did manage our oil well. Still, there was and is lots of global demand for energy. Whatever minor annoyance the Saudis had with Trump making America more energy independent was more than offset by him:
A) being quite openly and clearly supportive
B) dumping the idiotic Iran deal
C) sending Soleimani straight to hell
D) He also backed them in Yemen and sold them weapons
E) He also lined up Israel and several more Arab countries.....Israel is a valuable ally for them against Iran
MBS has made it clear he much prefers Trump.
“Not one American voted for him.”
That took a while 🕗 to sink in.
Xiden and his leftists ARE our "energy problem"..
😂😂😂
When you go out of your way to insult a key US ally for no good reason, when you repeatedly show them nothing but contempt, why you try once again to cozy up to their arch enemy Iran.... then yeah, they’re probably not going to be willing to do you the favor of holding off on their production cut for a month so as to help you out in an election.
“Biden turned the Saudis into pariahs in America’s eyes”.
The Saudis were no more pariahs in my eyes than any other raghead, I just happen to think they should all be cleansed with fire — NUCLEAR FIRE.
I’ll take my chances with radioactive oil.
Biden is the worst US president ever, so far.
