WASHINGTON, October 22. /TASS/. The US Army's 101st Airborne Division is ready to enter Ukraine in case of further tensions between Moscow and Kiev or an attack on a NATO member state, CBS News reported, citing the division’s command staff.
"We're ready to defend every inch of NATO soil," the division's Deputy Commander Brigadier General John Lubas said, as cited by the media outlet. Commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team Colonel Edwin Matthaidess, in turn, noted that his troops, deployed to Romania, have been "closely watching" the Russian forces, "building objectives to practice against" and conducting drills that "replicate exactly what's going on" in the war.
"In all, about 4,700 soldiers from the 101st Airborne's home base in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, have been deployed to reinforce NATO's eastern flank," CBS News noted.
"The commanders told CBS News repeatedly that they are always ‘ready to fight tonight,’ and while they're there to defend NATO territory, if the fighting escalates or there's any attack on NATO, they're fully prepared to cross the border into Ukraine," the media outlet added.

Well we don’t question your loyalty to GloboHomoNazis, corrupt Prog Socialist Democrats, the Biden Crime Family, NATO Ethnic Cleansing and the American Mainstream Media Propaganda.
Winner! Well said.
Today's Russia doesn't hold much in comparison with the goals of Nazi Germany - but you're correct that both responded to geo-political events that put opposition power too close to their center of command.
What nonsense are you talking? This is not going to be a home front/war front WWII replay. As soon as Americans are killing Russians sans the proxy, it’s game over. A US/Russian shooting conflict will very quickly escalate to a general nuclear exchange. This isn’t DC’s typical neocon, shove the weakling around, cake walk we are being blundered into.
“There is zero concern about him being sent to Europe”
4700 soldiers from the 101st already there.
Even the Sudetenland wasn’t about the Sudetenland, it was about Britain and France potentially using Czechoslovakia as a base to “surround” Germany.
True. It would also be important to consider the unprecedented times we live in.
What is going on today is more like the run up to the Revolutionary War.
Just replace the monarchy with modern wealth sovereigns to get the gist of it.
Don’t know why you’re so concerned about kids over here, Canuckistan has already lost the war with the Nazis, you’ve got one as PM, ... and you didn’t put up much of a fight.
Agreed, world is full of corrupt countries, which includes corrupt Russia. So how does that justify Putin's invasion and subsequent land grab?
WWII effectively started with Japan invading Manchuria in 1931.
Russia has often lost.
Or its been “dissuaded” from its objectives.
Hmm- just considering the 19th-20th centuries
It lost the Crimean war of 1854-56.
It partly won the Turkish war of 1877-78, but failed in its ultimate war aim to take Constantinople.
It lost badly to Japan in 1904-05
It lost disastrously to Germany in 1917
As the USSR it lost to Poland in 1920
As the USSR it ultimately lost to the “West” in 1991
Peace except for the eight years of daily attacks on the Donbass region by the Ukrainian military.
You project an great deal on your old Navy comrade, dont you?
Republicans are 100% behind this.
Have you not seen the footage of Graham and McCain telling the Ukrainians that the US will help them?
I dont see anything at all different about this than at any time in the last twenty years.
We have been routinely training there. However, compare the current media coverage and bluster from the Pentagon to past training events that have been muted.
Neocons (I include the media) are going to neocon.
It is unforgivable to me that our “leadership” is doing everything they can short of direct kinetic involvement to make us less safe.
Good post. I agree.
Don’t they already have an element there?
