Throw in the USAF and Navy and we are talking about, maybe, 50,000.
Of ground troops, the US has long since maintained an armored brigade in Poland and the “bones” of a full division including a division HQ there. Add in @40 US military installations in Germany, some of which maintain prepositioned equipment.
And when they leave, 5,000 other troops will rotate through. They have been doing this since 1947.
