Warren: Republicans Want the Fed to ‘Raise Interest Rates and Put Millions of People out of Work’
Breitbart ^ | 10/17/2022 | Ian hatchett

Posted on 10/17/2022 6:49:34 PM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

On Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) claimed that Republicans are the ones who want the Federal Reserve to engage in interest rate hikes that will “put millions of people out of work.”

Warren said, “I just want to say here, it’s the Republicans who are trying to keep 43 million Americans from getting their student loan debt canceled. It is Republicans who want to repeal the laws that we just got in place to cut the cost of insulin and to let Medicare negotiate drug prices. It’s the Republicans who want to see us raise interest rates and put millions of people out of work. So, I am very worried about buzzkill. I am worried about what it is the Republicans want to do to an America that really — what we’re trying to do as Democrats is just build opportunity, just let families get out there and do what they do best, let individuals get out there and do what they do best and let them make their own decisions, including letting women make their own decisions about abortion and about their health care. To me, that’s the heart of what it means to be an American and to be optimistic about the future we’re building.”

How about that. We have gone from:

“Things are going fine. There is no inflation. There is no recession. There is no crisis at the border.”

To:

“Ok, there are some serious problems, but it’s all the Republicans fault or something.”

Yes, folks, she really IS that dumb (or more probably, that willing to lie). What is it about politics that seems to draw folks who have no talent whatsoever? This woman would fail as a stop sign holder during highway construction.

I sse this diffrntly. Most Republicans are in favor of crashing the economy to slow inflation. Crashing by raising interest rates. Cowards will hide behind the Fed chair to do their dirty deed. A pox on all houses.

Someone has to explain economic theory in practice to the public. Until interest rates meet or exceed inflation rates, there will be too few goods and services chasing too much money. Once the two meet, the downward trend is very, very, slow. That and until energy costs experience downward pressure, nothing will go downward. We need too much oil chasing too few dollars.

Would you rather inflation stay at 10%? This is the real cost of the government shutdowns and money printing to cover the shutdowns.

Her people caused this mess.

Now, the adults are going to have to clean up. Unfortunately, I’m not sure the GOP has a voting majority of adults in each body of Congress.

Name one Republican that won’t be in favor of the Feds crashing the enonomy with ever higher interest rates, a move that conveniently does not require any congressional voting?

Yes. Giving out $2 Trillion dollars as Covid relief was textbook supply and demand lunacy designed to blow up the economy.

One thing Bill Clinton said in the late 90's about tax policy was unfortunately correct. When he was explaining why he was against tax relief and cuts, he said "we'd be giving the money to people who won't spend it right". He was correct in an economic theory kind of way. Of course who are politicians to dictate how stupid people spend their own money? But he was still right in cause and effect at that time.

Would you rather inflation stay at 10%?

I would prefer that over a massive recession and/or a possible depression.

The predicate here is just plain wrong. Raising interest rates is not the only way to control inflation. I would be in favor of holding spendinig and get Trump back into offce. We can do this without getting unemploymet up over 10 %. What fools. Playing with fire..
