You’d hate living in our house this winter. Well, we aren’t going to be all that happy either. The thermostat is set at 72 and that’s as warm as we’ll have it this winter. We didn’t keep it much warmer last winter (74) and our propane bills were outrageous. The heat just came on a few minutes ago - - it took the house that long to cool off enough to trigger it.
Hubby has a small space heater in his room to keep him a little warmer. I just dress in layers and it works fine. I did it for over 20 years at the old house.
It’s probably going to be colder here tonight than in Anchorage. LOL

Yes, I would! We have natural gas, and though it’s more expensive this year, I don’t think it’ll be as horrendous as propane would be. It’s going to be very uncomfortable if you have the winter that they seem to be predicting. Ugh.

When I was stationed in Charleston there were 26 piers - A - Z and after the piers was the Charleston Naval Shipyard. All of that has changed now.

A very pleasant good Tuesday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country and thanks Lauren for this morning's thread.
How's everyone doing this morning?

We’ll see what the first bill is like whenever they come out to top us off. I just remembered we found out there was a leak last year, not all that long before we didn’t need heat any more, that made our bills crazy. That was fixed so maybe the first bill this year won’t be too bad. If it isn’t, we can bump up the thermostat a couple of degrees. 74 will still be the max.
At least from Friday on, we won’t need much in the way of heat. It might kick on not long before I go to bed since the nights won’t be so cold.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
Did you need to bundle up for your outing with Gizmo yesterday? I hope it wasn’t as windy as it was here. That takes all the fun out of going out on chilly days.

Dang it. Just looked at Weatherbug and it said it is supposed to be 84 on Saturday! Will we EVER be done with the heat? LOL!
I hope fixing that leak will make a big difference. It’s a shame you didn’t find the leak earlier in the year, but at least it’s fixed now!

It was a little bit cool out there but we had fun nonetheless.
I missed Gizmo rolling over several times by a few minutes here.
We plan on doing Chisolm Trail Park later today.

84? Ugh! That’s too hot for October. We’re looking at mid 70s Saturday and that’s where we should be this time of year. Our high tomorrow will be just a couple of degrees warmer than our normal low for this time of year.
I kept telling Hubby I was smelling whiffs of gas when I was around the end of the house where the central unit is. That’s where the rain gauge is. He always said I was smelling armadillo pee and I wasn’t buying it. It was real strong one day and I dragged him out to smell it. He agreed then that it WAS gas I’d been smelling and called the company that made the central unit and they sent a guy out. He found two small holes in the copper pipe that connects to the unit. I haven’t smelled any gas since he replaced it.
It’ll be nice if it makes a big difference in the bills. It’ll still be more than we want to pay - - isn’t ANY bill? LOL - but we darn well better not get any more $1,000-plus bills! They don’t come every month, at least, but that much every month and a half to two months was still too high last winter. We aren’t millionaires. LOL

Gizmo seems to enjoy the chill in the air. He had a big smile on his face.
Have fun at Chisolm Trail Park later today.

That kind of bill is enough to give a person a heart attack for real! No wonder you’ve chosen to be cold. I hope them fixing the copper pipe makes a huge difference.
Yes, 84 is too hot. I was really hoping we were over than nonsence! Maybe it’s the prelude to another cold front. Sometimes it happens that way...heaven knows why. Just like last weekend. Oh, and we got 3/4” more rain last night, bringing our total for the month to 1 1/2”. I’ll take it and the yard looks very healthy right now.

The roof bounced up several inches when I yelled when I opened the first bill. LOL I was NOT happy. I told Hubby it HAD to be a leak I was smelling outside but he ignored me. The next two bills weren’t any better. We discovered the leak right after the last time they filled the tank and they haven’t been back to top it off since. No need. I figure they’ll come by in a month or so and we’ll see how hard we get hit then.
WOOHOO on getting more rain last night! Now if it would just keep coming regularly. Y’all have a lot of catching up to do.
No cold fronts on the way for a week, at least not here so there probably won’t be one over there either. With luck you won’t stay in the 80s long.
