One of Russia's newest and most advanced warplanes has crashed in a residential area in the southern Russian city of Yeysk, after one of its engines caught fire during takeoff.
The Russian Defense Ministry said both crew members of the Su-34 bailed out safely, while pictures shared on Russian Telegram news channels showed one of the pilots descending under a parachute, illuminated by the blazing wreckage.

“Yuri! How many times do I have to be telling you to tighten those fuel lines!”
Bottom of the article: “The Su-34 has a reported price tag of more than £43 million.”
Produced 2006–present[2][3]
Number built 147 (7 test and 140 serial aircraft)[4][5]
Developed from Sukhoi Su-27

Cool.
Far less than an F-35 and F-22.
Somewhere in the range of an F-15 and F-16.
Russia, without nuclear weapons is a 3rd world organized crime nation with an inept military.
We were sold a lie for decades🙄

It’s hard to disagree with that.
I assume this is an Su-34M. They’re probably $50mil, counting a weapons load.
I think they only have about 30 flying out of a projected 76.
This makes 14-15 or so lost elated to Ukraine. Assuming a generous 50% flying at anytime, Russia will be calling back the 3-4 it has in Syria anytime, if it hasn’t already.
They don’t have much left.
Yup. Like Mexico's narcocracy, but with nukes. (caveat: they only need a small percentage of them to work in order to ruin our day)
I don’t like Putin. But airplanes crash all the time. This doesn’t mean anything on its own unless it becomes a trend.
Do you suggest the planes don’t crash in countries other than Russia?
How much does a block of apartments cost? Including the the lives of the inhabitants thereof?
How many on the ground were killed or maimed?
Regards,

Judging by the appendage between the engines, someone is over compensating...
We also only hear about the ones that go down in urban areas. Of Russian plane crashes most would be in far more isolated regions.
And Russian culture means a lot of them are going down.
Aged planes + embezzled maintenance + unexperienced crew + a pints of vodka before takeoff makes it hard for them to stay in the air.
Naval variant’s Magnetic Anomaly Detector (sub hunting).
It means that Russia lost a valuable asset that they can’t replace in time to help during the war they have launched.
This is a big loss.

I was just discussing this with my son yesterday.
I believe this was due to obvious Russian propaganda about their military capabilities, for obvious reasons, but even more so due to willing deception from our own military industrial complex (inside and outside the actual military/CIA), to scare us into maximum spending on our military and weapons.
There are plenty of examples of some Russian weapon system that were supposedly so advanced that we had to respond with a new improved weapon to counter them, only for us to find out later that they were pure crap.
The Mig 25 scare is the best example of this.
I proudly served in the USAF as part of the force that held off the threat of Russian aggression in Europe.
But I’ve had to seriously question everything I’ve believed about the US Military/Intelligence people and programs in the past.
At some point between the late ‘80’s to now I’ve transitioned for complete trust, to not believing anything they say.
I hate that feeling, but that just the way it is now.
