I agree in somewhat, however you’d better make damn sure you evacuate pro-democracy folks and all the manufacturing capabilities particularly sensitive microchip technology before warshing your hands of Taiwan.
Going head-to-head with China right off their coast is suicide. This is not 1950. War fighting technologies have advanced and we are not the only country that possesses these advanced technologies.
Imagine an aircraft carrier being destroyed with 5000+ sailors on board. Could it happen? I dunno, but you can bet your patookas the Chinese communist have thought long and hard about taking one out.
Meanwhile, the Chinese economy is degrading, some say failing.
The relative prosperity of many is coming to an end as foreign companies desert China for greener pastures. Unemployment becomes a serious problem as the companies leave. The real problem of unemployment is developing in all the economy associated with real estate development. The money has ceased to flow to developers, construction companies, their workers on sites, the suppliers and the supplier workers.
The local governments who don’t tax the people, have lost their primary revenue stream from sale of property to the developers.
Ordinary people have ceased paying their mortgages on apartments for which construction efforts have ceased. Some lacking a place to live are camping in their unfinished apartments absent electricity or plumbing.
Bluster about Taiwan is just a cover for the insoluble problems the CCP faces with the failing economy. Xi is seeking power to control that which he can not remedy

We are going to wake up one day with the news that either Putin has set off a nuke, or Iran has nuked Israel, or China has invaded Taiwan and is threatening nuclear war should the USA respond, and of course Biden will.

I met one the other day and called them out to their chagrin. One thing about China that is well known is they are masters at “Waiting”....I think the only way Xi would use force would be if the US threatens them directly. Taiwan knows it’s basically on it’s own. ....and frankly should be as I see it..... The issue of Taiwan belongs between Taiwan and China. ....Though I understand the US wants to keep Taiwan as a checkmate footprint on China’s border and regarding control of the sea trade.

I asked a Taiwanese software engineer who worked for TSMC now working in U.S. who said elders to younger to youths even to grade school children know they will be slaughtered by the communist red Chinese if ever PRC conquer Taiwan. So most people in Taiwan have bunker mentality. Taiwan is armed to the teeth. They're prepared to die fighting if worse comes to worst.
