A member of the Oath Keepers who traveled to Washington before the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol testified Wednesday about a massive cache of weapons the far-right extremist group stashed in a Virginia hotel room.
Taking the stand in the seditious conspiracy case against Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and four associates, Terry Cummings showed jurors an AR-15 firearm and an orange box for ammunition that he contributed to the so-called quick reaction force the Oath Keepers had staged at the hotel outside of Washington in case they needed weapons.
“I had not seen that many weapons in one location since I was in the military,” said Cummings, a veteran who joined the Oath Keepers in Florida in 2020.
Prosecutors have said teams of Oath Keepers guarded the arsenal of firearms and were prepared to rush them into the hands of extremists in the capital if needed.
The alleged teams and the cache of weapons are a central piece of the Department of Justice’s case against Rhodes and four associates charged with seditious conspiracy in the Jan. 6 attack. Members of the Oath Keepers stashed the firearms just outside Washington district limits, given the capitol’s tougher gun laws.

Who knows...
Agreed. And you’d need more than a hotel room to fit the “massive weapons cache” of the IRS and their 87K new jackboots.
Why wouldn’t a hotel clerk notice a huge cache of weapons being loaded into hotel room?
The guns were never used in the commission of a crime.
So exactly what are they charging them with.
Inappropriate gun handling?
Is there some type of law against moving large amounts of
guns when they are not used to commit a crime?
Even if true, this verges on sheer stupidity.
Oh come on - only mental cases would take this seriously. (Apparently, mental cases like Adam Kinzinger, et al.)
So, there is no inkling that there was anything illegal about this “huge weapons cache”, just that it was a “huge weapons cache”, like the one in my closet.
“Huge” being relative, of course.
Cache of weapons in a hotel room.?? Give me a break.. :(
Ask the FBI guys who investigated the Las Vegas mass shooting, and never got us much of an answer on motive, or anything else.
How could it be a set up? I mean, there’s nothing suspicious about them just now bringing this out in October right before an election.
Showing the jury a legal gun and ammunition that is legal to
have is nothing more than trying to prejudice the jury by
use of inflammatory objects that are a misrepresentation of
illegality.
“Oh, we’ll show them the AR-15 and ammo to go with it. We
know none of that is a violation of the law, but when the
jury sees it, the case is won.”
Despicable!
Is there a judge withing miles of the courtroom?
I call BS! Fed Plant. One AR and a box of ammo is not a weapons cache.
Common sense says that they’d organize a drop point where members would leave their personal pieces, so as not to be carrying at the actual site of the rally. For reasons which should be obvious.
The government in Washington today ... installed by a coup that had insufficient resistance ... and is acting as our freedoms are only available if they are in agreement with the coup ..
This is socialism/communism.. held by the upper echelon in every facet of this country.
They are so inept, they are stirring a war and know nothing about running a country.
They are self declared kings of power, and have spent their time lying, and weaponizing every possible avenue to keep the hope of the nation, from the seat of government and restore our land.
I don't know but we could ask that of certain Las Vegas hotel clerks.
Isn’t it perfectly legal to have weapons in a hotel room in Virginia?
This is like saying a man who didn’t properly scan a can of tuna at the self-checkout counter, is charged with THEFT...and because he moved his guns to a new location recently, the police bring up his “gun cache” surrounding his ILLEGAL activities.
One has nothing to do with the other, especially when no actual crime was committed by the people being charged!!
I bet they were all FBI seized weapons.
If a hotel clerk thought it was a problem, they would notify management and/or the police. Being close to DC, with various federal agencies and several military bases, and in a state that allows hunting, weapons are probably a common sight in hotels in the area.
Because an FBI agent flashed a badge at them.
So, a bunch of guys with concealed carry permits , and other guys who travel with their lawful weapons decide to follow the law and leave their weapons under constant guard before entering a gun free zone.....and this is a problem.
I hope the defense council had a vigorous cross.
