Democrat Nury Martinez resigned as president of the Los Angeles City Council on Monday, one day after a racist leaked audio recording was released. Martinez issued a statement regarding her resignation as council president, although she will remain a council member.
“I take responsibility for what I said and there are no excuses for those comments. I’m sorry,” she said. Martinez and Councilman Kevin de León faced widespread protests and calls for their resignation after they were caught on the recording making racist comments about Councilmember Mike Bonin, a gay white man, and his adopted black son. The conversation also included Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera. The meeting was largely focused on redistricting the city, which happens once a decade.
I always ask them when the labor unions switched from Republican to Democrat.

Howard Cosell lost his announcing career because he said something like "look at that little monkey run" on Monday Night Football. He meant it as compliment except the player did look like a little monkey running.
I don't think there was a racist bone in his body. He was a big name in sports announcers/interviewers...all sports.
You could see the respect he had for many of them. Including Casious Clay (Muhamid Ali).

Most people who call themselves ‘black’ aren’t black but dark brown. But you can refer to them as brown, you must call them black, even if they are in fact really light brown.
There’s a Samoan football player who suffered a concussion and was referred to as being ‘black’. Now his skin is darker than most ‘blacks’ but he doesn’t count as ‘black’ since his immediate ancestors don’t hail from Africa. Elon Musk and his ancestors were born in Africa, but he most definitely not ‘African-American’.
It’s as if all conversations about race are conducted in code. Most understand the code, but if one makes a mistake decoding something, one is called a racist. And while there are monkeys that have white skin, calling a white kid a monkey isn’t racist, but calling a black kid a monkey is considered to be very racist.
None of it makes sense, but there we are.

I hear you but you know that saying about arguing with an idiot and them winning with experience? Dont play the idiots game and they wont win. The people that pretend to get themselves all worked up about this kind of crap on both sides of the aisle are just little POS drama queens feeding off the chaos. When you agree that some things are taboo then youre the one that approved the new rule that “a 2 beats a king on Tuesdays”. Youve voluntarily entered the game they control so youve automatically lost.
Its no different than these people that will cede the point that “carbon is dangerous” or “anthropogenic global warming is real but” and then go on to argue why the other side is overreacting. Once youve agreed to the fallacy then everything else is only a negotiation on how much control those running the game have over you.
Because part of the Uniparty script is for GOP politicians to grovel in shame.
Democrat voters say “how do those GOP politicians live with themselves, representing such awful people?”. And our “representatives” are quite eager to show everyone that, yes indeed, it weighs heavy on their conscience, and sometimes it’s just too much for them to bear.
