I DID read the article. It is her version only
Which may be true.
I hope you know enough to understand not everything is totally as reported.
Even Wendys Corp offering the job back may only be a way of trying to avoid further bad publicity.

Downs folks often see early onset alzheimers in their late 40s and 50s. So perhaps he could no longer do his job?

Valid point. Was talking to a friend last night, asked about her brother who has worked at Home Depot for maybe 20 years and is in his 50's. He operates at perhaps a 5 to 7-year-old mentality and ability, and lives with her. She says he is now open to fits of anger when things don't go his way, and his outbursts are getting worse in his 50's. Hopefully that doesn't happen on the job at Home Depot. It's a concern not just about ability to do the job, but keeping a peaceful environment for co-workers and customers.

My brother was a CEO of a mental heath center. One of the establishments they had was a coffee shop. Many of the employees had downs. They had the best record for attendance of all employees. Hated to miss a day of work.

If trained properly these people do excellent work.

My former wife managed a facility of people like this, and
her staff placed them in a number of businesses.

They most often worked out, and their employers were happy to
have them.

A guy doesn’t work for 20 years unless he is doing something
right. They can go down hill, but that does not seem to be
the main complaint here.

I think the manager has a lack of humanity in him.

I don’t want the business to be hurt by his performance,
but if he did good for twenty years, I question if he’s
not worthy now.
