Across the United States, thousands of youths are lining up for gender-affirming care. But when families decide to take the medical route, they must make decisions about life-altering treatments that have little scientific evidence of their long-term safety and efficacy.
On the two-hour drive back from the hospital, Danielle Boyer kept replaying the doctor’s questions in her mind. Was her then-12-year-old child, Ryace, hearing voices? Was she using illegal drugs? Had she ever been hospitalized for psychiatric treatment? Had she ever harmed herself?
Ryace (pronounced RYE-us) was assigned male at birth, but by the time she was 4, it was clear to her parents that she identified as a girl. She referred to herself as a girl. She wanted to dress as a girl. But her parents feared for her safety if they let her live openly as a girl in their tightly knit rural community. So they struck an uneasy compromise. At home, Ryace could be a girl, wearing makeup and dresses. At school, around town and in family photos, Ryace would remain a boy.
Ryace chafed at the restrictions. When she started middle school, she grew increasingly anxious about what puberty would bring: facial hair, an Adam’s apple, a deeper voice. That’s when Danielle sought help at Akron Children’s Hospital and its new gender clinic, where staff told her they could treat Ryace with puberty-blocking drugs and sex hormones to help her transition.
“This is what I’ve always wanted,” Ryace told her mother as they left the hospital. Afterward, the pair went on a celebratory shopping trip for girl’s clothes. Danielle was relieved. After years of struggling in isolation to do what they thought was best for Ryace, the Boyers were now getting expert help from people who understood their situation.

Whole damn bunch should be in prison and the doors welded shut.
When it first came out that the muslims were cutting off the clitorises of their young girls, how did these hospitals react? What were their comments? Bet it wasn’t “Oh goodie.”
We were all appalled.
What’s KNOWN is these children will be maimed for life. They will never be able to have children for the most part. Puberty blockers are IRREVERSIBLE.
I’m glad I grew up in the 60s/70s. I was quite the tomboy but I never once thought I “identified” as a boy. It just wasn’t a thing.

Someone (not the obviously indoctrinated parents) needs to explain to the child that this path leads to sterility, increased mental problems and risk of suicide, a permanent open wound that will constantly get infected, and a lifelong need for expensive medical treatments that won’t result in a capacity for a normal sex life, or likely for any kind of normal life at all. Then ask Ryace if that is what he really has always wanted.
What I still fail to understand is how the subject of this article identified themselves as female at that age. I can barely remember that time in my life and here are these children supposedly making these sorts of self-affirmations and that is really bizarre.
There is no such thing as “transgender children”.
At some point the mutilated boy will realize what his loving parent(s) and /or hid mom’s ex lesbian partner did to him.
It’s not medical care. It’s mutilation.

Woe to the children. I never thought that would include the cruel and Satanic act of sexual mutilation, but that’s how far this generation has rotted.
Is there a father? I mean yes, in the biological sense there must be, but is there an involved father?
And how does a four year old "identify" as anything?
And makeup?

They are in for a real dumpster fire, frankly. Some recent reports here mentioned that a segment of the current healthcare system is envisioning $5B in spending, specifically to support this Democrat Mid Term diversion.
The dumpster fire? Those parents and principals will find that government funding and very likely their own health insurance plans will not support these whims, or at least make the course very difficult to complete

He didn't. His mother did. It's always the mother. The father is always absent, either physically or emotionally.
