What I still fail to understand is how the subject of this article identified themselves as female at that age. I can barely remember that time in my life and here are these children supposedly making these sorts of self-affirmations and that is really bizarre.
He didn't. His mother did. It's always the mother. The father is always absent, either physically or emotionally.
Life was much simpler when I was growing up back in the 1960s.
Back then, when a kid around these ages asked what the difference was between a boy and a girls, a stock answer was girls had long hair, boys had short hair.
So back then, this transition stuff would have been easy. Let the kid’s hair grow out (boy to girl) or cut it short (girl to boy).
Then in a week, or a month, or whenever sanity prevailed, they would be only out the cost of a bad haircut, not the functions of their bodies for the rest of their lives.
