LIVE UPDATES UPDATED THU, OCT 6 20226:53 AM EDT Pouring scorn on ‘annexations,’ Ukraine reclaims more territory in the south and east; ‘You’ve already lost’ Kyiv tells Moscow

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Russia’s leadership that it cannot win the war as Kyiv counts more gains on the battlefield, both in the south around Kherson and in the east, with Ukrainian troops pushing from Donetsk into Luhansk.

“You have already lost. Lost because even now, on the 224th day of the full-scale war, you are forced to explain to your people the purpose of all this — this war, deceitful mobilization, self-destruction of your nation’s every prospect.”

Zelenskyy thanked Ukrainian troops for their successes in reclaiming dozens of settlements in the south of Ukraine, in the Kherson region, and said “there will be more” gains to come.

“Ukrainians know what they fight for. And more and more Russian citizens realize that they must die simply because one single man does not want to stop the war,” he said, speaking in Russian.

The renewed push in Ukraine’s counteroffensives comes after Russia announced last week that it was “annexing” four regions of Ukraine. Kyiv’s successes on the battlefield are showing Moscow that its self-proclaimed “hold” on those regions is fragile.

As conservatives go

I'm glad that you consider Liz Cheney to be a conservative. This ensures the continued demise of the movement and that warm me up to no end. Please do more.

Sure. Napoleon once rode triumphantly into Moscow to find it abandoned. Even the water pumps had been destroyed.

The Russians have a long history in battle of giving up ground but preserving their men and equipment.

The vastly superior Roman Army at Cannae attacked Hannibal and the Carthaginians. Hannibal then sprung a trap of encirclement and annihilated the much larger force.

The English at Agincourt faced a large force of mounted French nobles in armor. The English were sick and exhausted but they had “air superiority.” They had a large contingent of long bowmen who launched huge volleys of arrows at the French. The mounted nobles charged their horses but the fields were so muddy, the horses could not be controlled. The nobles fell from their horses, shackled in the fight by their heavy armor. Once dismounted, they were helpless.

The English prevailed and took their time that day, killing almost the entirety of French nobility.

Mao traded space for time. He and his army were chased across China but ultimately were victorious.

Young T.E. Lawrence (of Arabia), age 29, had no formal military training yet he bested the maneuvers of the Turks using common sense and defeated the Turks at Aqaba who were expecting an attack by sea. Lawrence led the Howeitats on camels from the desert and caught the Turks by surprise.

There are endless examples throughout history of the strategic value of waiting for the enemy to make his desperate advances and mistakes so you can pounce and deliver the winning blow.

Patience in warfare is usually the winning strategy.

Well, I must ask. Have you ever met Walt Longmier or Beau Bennett? Have you ever actually listened to either of them?

bert, the question pertained to Liz Cheney and her description of “Putin Republicans.” Please focus on the political similarities between Neocons like yourself and her (throw in GW Bush & her insane father too), and not on two people no one knows or cares about. Got it?

Because he has the 'scruples' and now the 'rubles'.

https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/scruples Having scruples is kind of like having a conscience: your morals or scruples cause you to act in ways you think are right.

. The idea of scruples has to do with ethics and morality: what is right and wrong. If you had no scruples at all, you'd just kill, steal, cheat, and do God knows what else. Scruples are a kind of moral compass that lets you know what's right. Often people use this word in an outraged way when someone does something bad: "Don't you have any scruples?" Liars, thieves, criminals, and politicians have fewer scruples than the rest of us.

man of peace LOL

you didn’t make one call for “peace” for 6 months when Russia was advancing

but as soon as they start being driven back, you want a “peace deal” to lock in Russia’s illegal gains

won’t happen till Russia is expelled
