Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Russia’s leadership that it cannot win the war as Kyiv counts more gains on the battlefield, both in the south around Kherson and in the east, with Ukrainian troops pushing from Donetsk into Luhansk.
“You have already lost. Lost because even now, on the 224th day of the full-scale war, you are forced to explain to your people the purpose of all this — this war, deceitful mobilization, self-destruction of your nation’s every prospect.”
Zelenskyy thanked Ukrainian troops for their successes in reclaiming dozens of settlements in the south of Ukraine, in the Kherson region, and said “there will be more” gains to come.
“Ukrainians know what they fight for. And more and more Russian citizens realize that they must die simply because one single man does not want to stop the war,” he said, speaking in Russian.
The renewed push in Ukraine’s counteroffensives comes after Russia announced last week that it was “annexing” four regions of Ukraine. Kyiv’s successes on the battlefield are showing Moscow that its self-proclaimed “hold” on those regions is fragile.

Kherson for instance cannot be saved even if the Russians manage to put 200,000 men on the East Bank of the Dneiper.

Original smo was to demilitarize Ukraine. The more troops they send to the front, the more the Russians kill. Russia does not want to fight these guys in the settlements nor to kill the civilians they hide behind nor to lose its own troops in these localized battles. Let’s watch what happens as Russia trades territory for time while it’s newly mobilized divisions ( 300k troops ) are being trained for deployment.

The Russian military lacks the capability to defend an 800 mile front and is defending from strong points. The cracks between the strong points allow Ukrainian penetration. The penetration thus allows envelopment ofthe strong point. The Russians there must retreat or die. Actually they do both and many die trying to retreat on a narrow road clogged with traffic.
The Ukranian tctic is used over and over again and lots and lots of territory has been reclaimed from the ineffective Russians.
Yesterday a “tank” hurdled toward Ukranian lines flying several white flags. The Russians were surrendering, tank and all. The tank was an old obsolete weapon that was out of place on the current battlefield. The crew knew they were just bread waiting for the toaster.
