Im not saying Ukraine will be able to hold it, I am rebutting the claim Ukraine has been giving up land it retook. No such think has happened.
If anything, it looks like Russia is the one giving up terrain it gained quickly in Feb.

Historically, everyone who has tried invading Russia has ended up on the losing end. Germany in the last century; Napoleon's armies in the century before that.
Nobody even tried it the century before that because Russia was busy swallowing up Poland, the Baltic States, Finland and parts of Turkey and the Balkans. Just because they could.
To which I should add that Turkey probably deserved it because they sent THEIR armies to the gates of Vienna the century before that. However, England intervened on the side of Turkey in the century after when Russia continued their aggressive conquests against Turkey.
