A second-grader at a Florida Christian academy was “administratively withdrawn” from the school after her parents questioned a homework assignment that requested “a picture of you doing reading homework in the bathtub.”
The student’s mother, Misty Dunham, promptly sent a message to her daughter’s teacher at Victory Christian Academy in Jacksonville.
“I emailed the teacher ‘Hey, you may want to explain that. Send something out to the parents. Let them know what the intentions are.’ This just does not sound OK,” Dunham told WJAX. “She did send out a message saying, ‘You should be in pajamas, be in your uniform, have fun with it.’ But, it didn’t sit right.”
It didn’t sit right, so Dunham filed a report with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The report, obtained by WJAX, said school administrators told the Dunhams, “We have been sending this homework assignment for years, and you’re the only one complaining about it.”
Dunham said a school administrator later called.
“(He said) ‘I think you guys should do a parental withdrawal for the child.’ I said, ‘I can’t. I can’t do that. We refuse to withdraw her,’” she said. “He said, ‘OK thank you for saying that,’ and continued on saying that, ‘Well, we’re going to proceed with an administration withdraw.’”
And just like that, the Dunhams’ daughter is no longer enrolled at Victory Christian Academy, a ministry of Victory Baptist Church. The parents told WJAX they got no explanation.

Yes. I understand that.
Pen, pencil, paper, book, laptop ... I can’t think of one thing that should be used over water.
Very true. This is just plain ridiculous! Why in the heck does a teacher need a picture of a student doing their homework in a tub, no matter what the student is wearing? Very creepy! Why does the teacher need a picture period?
“A ‘Christian’ school allowed this?????”
Well yes it is a Christian school and is also a private school.
“Elementary (1st - 6th grades) - Annual Tuition: $6,450 “

“was taken out of an online teacher resource and has been used in many schools.”
And that makes it “right”?
The answer seems to be a dodge, and together with a withdrawal of the assignment for future use, stands as an admission the administration never reviewed the material before it was used.
Its just so inappropriate that someone would request this from Children
Exactly! The teacher should have been fired.
Bingo! But it isn't just about possible nudity. No parent should want their kids photos to be taken and passed around in public. Keep them off social media, and protect the kids.
The pedophiles at the school got caught.
Exactly.
Such an assignment is just the camel’s nose under the tent.
Wow! Do you have a link? Was it the teacher?
It is inappropriate for teachers to demand that students take pictures of themselves at home to send to said teacher.
First, it is an invasion of privacy.
Second, there is no legitimate reason for requesting such a thing.
In general, I dont disagree with that position. However, this was escalated to calling police on the school. I have to ask why? Was it just bad judgement on the part of the school, or a parent creating a mountain out of a mole hill, or something nefarious? Of the three options, it still seems to me like over-reaction on the part of the parent. She did not need to involve police unless a genuine crime has taken place.
Getting into a private school is competitive. Getting dismissed is not hard at all.
The school teacher and the administrators who wanted to see kids in a a bathtub are the pedophiles.
“why did they withdraw the student?”
Probably because the parents went to the police over this. The school probably figures it’s just a matter of time until the parents sue them for something else they don’t like, so better to eliminate the threat.
A better question is, if the parents thought this was serious enough to report to the police, why would they want to keep their daughter in that school? The fact the wanted to keep the daughter there makes me think this wasn’t about protecting their daughter and they really were planning on finding something else to complain about.
The worst part is that it pretends to be a Christian school.
Why do these "reporters" never ask the teachers name and ask the teacher what is the purpose of this request/assignment?
It would seem so.
This school needs investigating.
The request for bathroom photos may be the proverbial tip of the iceberg.
Nope, I just see a groomer casting a wide net that is Easily waved off as innocent. You just stay in your sunshine and lollipops world and let the grownups handle the freaks
