THOUGHT FOR THE WEEKEND
There is a line separating dedication-to-duty from "work-a-holism". Dedication to duty is good, healthy, and positive. Work-a-holism, on the other hand, is negative, harmful and eats away at family relationships. We must know the difference between the two.
Let me tell you about a man who was called the Greatest American Soldier of the 20th Century: General George C. Marshall. Born in Uniontown, PA in 1880, he graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1902. As a junior infantry officer in the US Army he served two tours in the Philippines, in several stateside camps, then to Europe where he helped plan some of the great Allied campaigns of World War I. He was selected to be senior aide to General "Blackjack" Pershing; then off to duty in China. In 1938 he was chosen by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to be Army Chief of Staff, a position he held throughout World War II. As COS he oversaw the greatest build-up ever of the Army--from 200,000 to 8.5 million soldiers. He volunteered and was considered the first-choice to lead the D-Day invasion of France, but President Roosevelt was so reliant on General Marshall that he would not let him leave Washington. In 1946 he became Secretary of State and engineered a plan to bolster the economic recovery of a devastated Europe. President Truman insisted (despite Gen Marshall's protests) that this massive undertaking be called the Marshall Plan. He was an architect of NATO and helped contain the fighting in Korea. In 1953 he was awarded the Noble Peace Prize, the only professional soldier to be accorded that honor. It is said that at the height of World War II, despite his crushing responsibilities, General Marshall went home every afternoon to take a nap! Although we may not be able to go home and take a nap in the middle of our day, let us be on guard that we not succumb to workaholism. Let us also watch out for each other in this area! If you: take periodic breaks from your busy work schedule, get away periodically from the demands of the job, take leave and allow yourself time to enjoy some quiet time each day... then you will be able to return to work and tackle your responsibilities with renewed vigor, dedication, and peace of mind. Have a nice weekend and, as always, Safety First! Chaplain Mitch Schranz

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

Good afternoon, spel, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
Thanks for the close up of bananas growing. Something one does not think about...what they look like before finding there way to your local store. Your green thumb?

A recap of today’s birthday party:
Food - Many kinds of Hors D’oeuvres
Drinks: Water, many kinds of sodas, wine, beer, liquer and hard liquor.
Main course: Paella which is a rice dish with sausage, all kinds of seafoods, including fish, shrimp, crabs, oysters, clams with the addition of lobster tails.
Dessert: Trés Leches, which is a Mexican cake. I do not like nor eat Trés Leches. It has the consistency of sliced bread. The addition of the milk makes it taste like soggy sliced bread. However, they did have some birthday cookies. I stole one. ;-)
Entertainment: Flamenco Dancers - Two beautiful females who knew Flamenco. ;-)
Obviously, these people know how to entertain.

God’s Gentle Grace
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2
“Tell all the truth but tell it slant,” the poet Emily Dickinson wrote, suggesting that, because God’s truth and glory is far “too bright” for vulnerable human beings to understand or receive all at once, it’s best for us to receive and share God’s grace and truth in “slant”—gentle, indirect—ways. For “the Truth must dazzle gradually / Or every man be blind.”
The apostle Paul made a similar argument in Ephesians 4 when he urged believers to be “completely humble and gentle” and to “be patient, bearing with one another in love” (v. 2). The foundation for believers’ gentleness and grace with each other, Paul explained, is Christ’s gracious ways with us. In His incarnation (vv. 9–10), Jesus revealed Himself in the quiet, gentle ways people needed in order to trust and receive Him.
And He continues to reveal Himself in such gentle, loving ways—gifting and empowering His people in just the ways they need to continue to grow and mature—“so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature” (vv. 12–13). As we grow, we become less vulnerable to looking elsewhere for hope (v. 14) and more confident in following Jesus’ example of gentle love (vv. 15–16). — Monica La Rose
How have you experienced God’s grace and truth in gentle, indirect ways? How can His gentle ways help you relate to others?
Dear God, thank You for the gentle ways You reveal Your goodness, grace, and truth to me. Help me to find patience and rest as I trust in Your loving care.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Howdy, Kathy.
Feetsies are a little sore this evening - - more from having to wear shoes, not flip flops, than from a lot of walking. Pretty slow this weekend but the tours I had were fun.
Next Friday will be a zoo, from what I’ve heard, and the feetsies will get a workout.
Did you get some good sleep last night and maybe some “you” time today? I gather it was a rough week.
