Ukraine’s announcement has not met with much enthusiasm in Washington: In response to Kyiv's fast-track application for NATO membership, Jake Sullivan, the U.S. President's National Security Advisor, said that it was “not the right time” for Ukraine’s admission to the alliance. He said he believes the best way to help Ukraine is to provide practical assistance “on the ground.”

I’d imagine a lot.

But you will probably never know, because we don’t report those things. No Ukrainian casualties... Only Russians die.

We don’t report much about the US mercenaries captured by Russia, or those KIA. Nope, this don’t exist according to the MSM: https://southfront.org/2408-foreign-mercenaries-left-in-ukraine-russian-mod/ The only problem is you can check up the names and usually find some local reporting about someone that was killed.

Heck, we don’t even report on how the US DOJ and state department are doing zero to stop the movement of mercenaries, which we normally do.

We don’t report on javelin being for sale on the black market - how did that get there?

Where are the stories about how China and Russia are drifting closer, how Brazil and India gave us the middle finger regards the sanctions and how not even Mexico is on board with them! I’m there now, Russian goods for sale...

We try not to talk about who paid for all these mercenaries in Ukraine, because Ukraine sure as hell could not afford that.

We don’t want to talk about Azov.

We don’t mention the Ukraine nationalist attrocities against ethnic Russians pre war.

Seldom is there a story about how we withdrew from the ballistic missile treaty and how that impacts this situation. Or how we violated the Minsk agreement. Or how we expanded NATO Eastward despite it being known and understood since 1994 that this is a Russian no-go.

We don’t talk much about these counter offensives when they almost all fail.

We don’t want to talk about Ukrainian troops deserting or surrendering to the Russians.

We don’t show folks avoiding the draft in Ukraine, nope everything is fine and everyone supports this!

There wasn’t much to said when the iron works surrendered. Nor was there much talk when it turned out that the folks on snake island surrendered despite some heroic BS story being floated for days prior.

We don’t show images of massive and numerous new cemeteries that have sprung up all across the Ukraine.

Nope... We have elaborate articles discussing Putin’s mental state, because we all know Biden is on his game!

No worries though - we are safe from Russia propoganda. We’re blocking all their sites and you’re fed nothing but the facts!

Russia is losing very badly and the Russian Federation risks collapse. The former Soviet Union hung on for twenty years in Afghanistan before it collapsed. I really don’t think this war will take so long, the pace of this war being much quicker. And, nobody can be sure what Putin will do in response to the accelerated pace of losses Russia is facing
——-

You have got to be kidding? Vlad has crippled the EU and their economies, destroyed Ukraine’s economy, manufacturing, currency, military, have made them a welfare nation all the while making billions of dollars and this statement says the Russian Federation is collapsing?….they just became bigger, the ethnic Russian provinces hold 60 percent plus of the Ukies wealth and Russia is collapsing???

Please, please stop drinking from the western MSM whiskey bottle.

“...the ethnic Russian provinces hold 60 percent plus of the Ukies wealth and Russia is collapsing???...”

The majorities are not ethnic Russians but are Russian speakers which is different. But your point about the value of the regions shows the true motive for the land grab. It is to steal black soil areas, coal fields, ports, mill towns, etc.

You may have noticed that today thousands of those Russian speakers from the Donbas were liberating significant areas in both the Lugansk Oblast and the Donetsk Oblast. They captured many tons of munitions in Lyman. There are Russian corpses lining the road East out of Lyman.

I support Ukraine because I believe in decentralization, self determinism. I support a people and culture to have their own rules, space etc.

However, I am also a realist and do not deny that we would have serious issues if another world power were to set up shop on our border. When you look at Ukraine and Russia and a map of where big maneuver corridors are, the rail lines and gauge, major roads, the number of big airfields in Ukraine, the ease with which things can be hidden (forests), sea ports, land connection West with Poland and Romania (lines of communication)... For Russia this is an impossible situation to accept.

We forced this issue in October 2021. Russia could lay in their belly and stick their ass up or fight (essentially the situation we created). But we clearly decided that in complete disregard to their issues we would bring Ukraine into NATO.

All of that comes with the backdrop of Republic of Georgia and what we did regards Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia in 2004. Our violating of the Minsk agreement, withdraw from the ballistic missile treaty, treading into Syria. We give them very good reasons not to trust us.

However, this war was flat out stupid and it doesn’t even help the people of Ukraine.

Arming Ukraine as we did 2014-2021 can be argued to make it costly if Russia becomes an aggressor, but when we said “yes” to Ukraine being a NATO member we put the Russians in a situation where they are threatened, and that is something folks simply do not see.

This is a war where the entire world can point their finger to one single man: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/ (((Biden)))

This was Biden’s call to make. This is his war, not even Mr Z, who will do as told. The Euro’s have their EU club, but NATO is ours and it’s NATO where the problem is. Russia does not want our tanks, fighters, bombers, on their border, not really a hard concept to understand.

Nearly 70% of the people in Luhansk are ethnic Russians. Not just speakers of Russian. If they want to be part of Russia, what business is it of yours

You are incorrect. It no form or fashion is Lugansk 70 percent ethnic Russian. Don’t rely on Russian front statistical production. There are ethnic Russians from eastern Ukraine who are fighting with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and many thousands of Russian speakers. If they want to liberate their hometowns from Buryats and other invader pigs and apes, what business is it of yours? My wife’s hometown is Alchevsk in Lugansk region. It will be a great day when the invaders are driven out.

Here are stats from census data. Remember that Lugansk is a city and a region (Oblast). This is data for the Oblast and is listed in Wikipedia:

Ukrainians constitute 58 percent of Lugansk region.
Minority Russians are 39.1 percent.
Belarusians are 0.8 percent.
