Hurricane Ian leads to political whiplash for Ron DeSantis (DeSantis Hit Piece/Barf Alert)
The Hill ^ | 10/1/22 | Brett Samuels

Posted on 10/01/2022 5:52:42 AM PDT by Michael.SF.

It was Sept. 20 when the White House was on alert for the potential that DeSantis was organizing a flight of migrants from Texas to President Biden’s home state of Delaware, his latest move to draw attention to the surge of immigrants at the southern border and what he viewed as the responsibility of blue states to share the burden.

One week later, DeSantis was on the phone with Biden in the first of three calls the two men have held this week to coordinate the response to Hurricane Ian as the storm knocked out power, flooded communities and destroyed homes across the state of Florida.

The seesawing between antagonist and partner comes as DeSantis tries to juggle building up his bona fides among conservatives should he decide to run for president in 2024 — potentially against Biden — and leading his state through what he and others have described as a generational storm.

“DeSantis is showing — though the process is ongoing — that he can play both the political culture warrior and the in-charge governor of the entire state,” former Republican National Committee spokesman Doug Heye said, calling DeSantis a “Trump with substance.”

DeSantis has been a thorn in the side of the Biden administration for the last year-and-a-half, eliciting frequent responses from the White House briefing room podium and at one point last year referring to the Biden administration as the “Brandon administration” in a nod to a popular conservative meme mocking the president.

DeSantis had work trucks, workers, etc. in readiness before the storm.

Biden’s sending FEMA pencil-pushers days later.

The article was probably written before Ian hit Florida. They just filled in some of the details.

In two weeks the damage zone will be cleaned up and crowded with contractors’ equipment.

Most houses came through with minor damages.

The county schools did not open Friday.

Trash pickup is unknown. Maybe it will restart on Monday.

Oh yes, and these people likely ignored Democrat corruption and incompetence in New Orleans when Katrina took place. Not to mention that the Democrat mayor there also went to jail not long after that time as well.

The fancy house got cleaned up yesterday. The debris was dumped along the side of the street facing the side of another house.

My neighbor’s relative paid $11000 to have trees removed from her pool cage. It took the four of crew about four hours. Yup, that’s about $600/manhour.

Her house was not destroyed as I said based on a phone call from her cousin.

His presser on Thursday was the first time I really listened to him. Now I understand why they are worried. He may sound like Trump but he’s a crap load smarter. No way Biden keeps up in a debate IF he (Biden) even gets thru primaries.

Also the Army Corp of Engineers states if the bridge abutments are sound they can install a temporary bridge structure to Sanibel.

That will go a long way.

My electric power is still out.

The FPL outage restoration map is of no help.

A buckle holding a previously snapped wire was torn open. A prevention crew trimmed trees in the area just days before.

Ron DeSantis is showing
— though the process is ongoing —
That when it's raining, not snowing,
That DeSantis is going,
To reap good that he's sowing.

The press is all crowing,
And fits they are throwing,
All upset and moaning,
With hatred bestowing,

And Kamala's hoeing.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the LEFTist MSM is to find the highest nonLEFTist in the chain of command and blame that officeholder for everything bad. It worked for H.Katrina /New Orleans and will work anytime there is the BLIND MSM playing the story!

They are I situating that he opposes Biden, but then turns around and wants to operate with him. They are essentially accusing him of hypocrisy and flip flopping, trying to turn him into a Chris cristie. All the msm are in on it it seems. Saw several liberal hit pieces on desantis yesterday, all tried to Insinuate he has flip flopped. It won’t work. Any governor of a state should be seeking help after a major storm regardless of who is president.
