They will blame DeSantis (as a Trump surrogate).

“You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” Quoth Rahm Emanuel

A big problem was unreliable forecasts putting land fall all over the place and constantly shifting.

Correct. Friends who were in the original projected landfall area for the eye went south to avoid it.

Instead, they ended up right smack in the eye. Waiting to hear if they're ok...

Hurricane predictions are all based on computer models.

Predictions of a climate crisis are all based on computer models.

Do you see the problem?

There are a lot of elderly that just can’t move.

Florida is the home of retirees, many who are elderly and can’t move about too well. Either family is out of state or they have none, many of the older folks are on their own.

The old joke about St. Petersburg is that it is “God’s waiting room”—probably applies to a lot of cities and towns in the area.

;-)

You’d think a news chopper might land to get a closer look.

Yup. Two things I noticed when I was in Bonita Springs last March. Lots of old folks and New Yorkers..

Those contractors made a couple of bucks over the next 6 months.

As long as they don't OVERcharge for gas, Biden's goons will leave them alone.

A few quick beams tossed across the span and they’ll be able to at least get back and forth.

The more dead, the warmer the globe.

In other news...

Biden announced today that his new EO outlaws cremations for the dead because of global warming.

“FEMA is there for this reason.”

Yes, to assist the states in their response to a disaster once the state request said assistance. Let’s see how they do with that mission this time.

That is the maximum elevation for Sanabel Captiva goes to 7 feet I’ve been going to both of them for years I’m sure it’s devastation

And I would imagine a fair amount of people decided to ride it out thinking it would be like the usual hurricane in the area which are not super strong as a rule

I live through Camille as a boy about 5 miles from the coast and I learned my lesson I was on the beach the next morning with my father who was a contractor and it was unbelievable I will never forget it all the dead animals in the trees and banana ships up on the beach and petroleum tanks washed up on shore
Camille was a fast moving very powerful winds storm and anyone who stayed inside the railroad tracks from the beach was in peril no question

Probably because 95% of storms are exaggerated by the media I’m not saying it was a smart move but that is the main reason southwest Florida does not usually get super powerful storms but they may get some drop a lot of rain

I don’t think Key West has taken a direct hit search the 1920s or 30s when the troop train was hit

Port Charlotte got a what one what 20 years ago or so
