An 8-year-old student at Victory Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida, was "administratively withdrawn" from school after her parents objected to a homework assignment instructing second-graders to “send picture of you doing reading homework in bathtub,” reported parents Misty and Christopher Dunham.
Christopher told CBS-47 that he and his wife were shocked when their 8-year-old said she needed to send a picture of herself in the bathtub doing her reading homework to her second-grade teacher.
"I emailed the teacher [to say] 'Hey, you may want to explain that. Send something out to the parents. Let them know what the intentions are.' This just does not sound OK," Misty explained.
Though the teacher responded by adding that students could "be in pajamas, be in your uniform, have fun with it," something about the assignment still "didn’t sit right," Misty explained. So she reached out to the school administrators, who claimed that “we have been sending this homework assignment for years, and you’re the only one complaining about it."
Soon after, a school administrator called to encourage the Dunhams to "do a parental withdrawal for the child."
When Misty refused to withdraw her daughter, the administrator said the school was "going to proceed with an administration withdraw.
"CBS-47 reported that school documentation indicates that the Dunhams' daughter is "no longer a student at Victory Christian Academy.
"On "The News & Why It Matters," BlazeTV host Sara Gonzales and guests Matthew Marsden, Tayler Hansen, and John Doyle discussed the strange homework assignment and the Christian school's draconian reaction when parents raised objections.
"Just because they say it's a Christian academy doesn't mean that it is," Marsden warned. "You don't do this

It's the same damn thing, EVERY TIME! It's always some faceless, nameless "administration". Nothing will change until we call them out by NAME! Identify your top demon, just tell the truth, and target and isolate him/her.
Is the school refunding tuition paid by the family? I’d get my kid out of there pronto. This sounds wicked and the school’s reaction sounds like CYA.
Meanwhile, a lot of girls’ pajamas are thin white material. Water gets splashed or wicks up the PJs and you have a wet PJ contest.
This was just wrong headed to begin with. A bath or shower is kind of a private thing. Perverts and pedos abound now. Hollywood has had a lot to do with it as has modeling. Dressing girls up and putting makeup on them and having them act like adults. I’ve always thought child beauty pageants were creepy too.
Adult TV and movies has gotten extreme too.
“And you’re the only one who complained.”
Gee whiz, it only takes one complaint to shut down a prayer group. Why the double standard?
(rhetorical question)
Seriously though this is in no way out of bounds in my mind.
Fear not Groomers, schools are hiring!
Who’s in charge at this “Christian School” it must be someone named Jack Hoff?
Once one has been victimized sexually especially as a child as I was a lot of stuff becomes toxic like children in bathtubs.
You avoid this stuff because it disturbs you reminds you of the wrongs done to you.
Maybe at this Christian school there are innocent people with innocent motives but there are far too many folks who have been hurt who don’t see it that way.
I agree. Name them and dox them while you’re at it. I would not be surprised if some of them have photos of nude children or a history of being investigated for child porn,or inappropriate sexual behaviour with kids.
That is always a lie.
Always.
Too many are being triggered by “bathtub” as the location. There’s a selfie studio in Atlanta that has a bathtub stage. This isn’t crazy for 2022.
This assignment just doesn’t bother me. It’s an unusual location freely available to most school kids that suggests it’s ok to read anywhere. Horror!!
Mothers who take naked photos of their child creeps me out. Naked babies used in advertising creeps me out. Always has, even before I was grown.
The second-grader did nothing wrong, but the school kicks him or her out? There’s something off about both the assignment and the school’s reaction to the family.
I think the weird part is the school’s reaction... the reading in the tub is wierd but the red flag that some where there might be sex abuse going on at the school is the school ditching the parents over this. the school could have listened and told the parents that there was no isue that they saw and ignored the parents’ reaction instead they felt the need to get rid of the parent. I assume they did not want the parent digging into something with the teacher or the administrator that is not silly like the bathtub reading assignment...
Victory is a big school, K-12, been around over 50 years, fees are close to $9k a year. Does anyone here actually know anything about the school?
Says nothing about clothing and is directed at the 8 year old who is likely used to taking a bath without clothes on. "Send a picture of you" - 8 year olds would read this and take a selfie.
You are triggered. Is it your responsibility to manage your response or is it the world’s responsibility to mind read and walk on egg shells?
I’m not being unsympathetic. Many of us (myself included) have traumatic events in our personal histories. We’re not accountable for how we feel but how we act and react—how we express ourselves.
A stronger argument exists that class sensitive parents may not want their bath tubs seen but the kids already know which peers have wealthy parents and which are from more modest means.
Evidentially the “parental initials” column in invisible to you.
Notice it’s ONE FREAKING PARENT!!! ONE!!!! Where are ALL the OTHER PARENTS?? HORRIBLE PARENTING!
NAME the SICKO teacher!!
OMG!! Just the THOUGHT she or HE wanted PICTURES of KIDS in BATHTUBS is PURE SICKNESS!
I think it’s time to face the harsh realities of sexual misconduct in our society millions victimized but I agree that I can’t impose my view on others but there’s nothing wrong with a little awareness for everyone.
Some folks have taken a pathway out of the insanity caused by their victimization others still on it, some haven’t even started.
I certainly have my responsibility indeed.
