There was an incident on the Russian Baltic Sea pipeline, as confirmed by the Danish shipping authority. The operator Gascade speaks of a sharp drop in pressure in the tube. An accident is considered unlikely. The timing of the accident suggests sabotage.

A pipeline partially destroyed is like a woman partially pregnant. The result is an unacceptable outcome.
>>It would be just a bridge too far me to believe that the US would permit a sabotage of an ally like this.<<
Do you realize the competence of the person “leading” the US?
>>Depressurizing that pipeline from that depth probably wouldn’t cause that kind of an affect at the surface.<<
Has anyone contemplated that depressurizing a damaged underwater pipeline will result in flooding which will make repair work even more difficult? Winter is coming and we want that pipeline operational ASAP. The line is weight coated to prevent flotation.
That is deep saturation diving with heavy task loading. Not very likely. That kind of diving requires a lot of visible surface support.
i am shocked at just how little attention this and the possible NS1 sabotage are getting.
attacks on energy infrastructure of this scale are major geopolitical events.
the particulars of this one (cutting off any escape ramp for germany) are deadly serious. germany may well have buckled before too long. the pressure would have been immense internally.
I guess my only question at this point is whether open war with russia is desired before or not until after elections.
There are two possibilities, since this damage was intentional. On the political side, there has been discussions in Europe to reopen the pipelines to save their economy. This sabotage makes that impossible, and Europe is now in some deep economic trouble. There will be no relief from these crippling high gas prices.
So who did it? The damage is in deep water, this was either caused by submarine or a deep water dive team with heavy topside support.
Russia? why?
An EU member? why?
UK? why?
Ukraine? Hmmm...
Or someone else who has an interest in prolonging this war?
Who benefits?
We may never know the truth of who attacked the pipeline and why.
But this “incident” could be used as a great propaganda tool.
In the General/Chat forum, Massive drop in pressure – Nord Stream 2 pipeline apparently partially destroyed , “ Biden pledges end to Nord Stream 2 if Russia invades Ukraine Feb 8, 2022
If Russia invades, that means tanks or troops crossing the ... border of Ukraine again, then there will be ... no longer a Nord Stream 2. We, we will bring an end to it,” Biden said. Asked how, given the project is in German control, Biden said: “I promise you, we’ll be able to do it.”

Needs repeating
Have no doubt that Russia will be proclaimed by the West and Western media as the guilty party for the damage, etc., etc., etc.
I think the Germans just nationalized Gazprom’s holdings in Germany, including the pipelines, so the Russians actually have the most incentive to sabotage them.
Speculation.
And everyone has ‘speculation.’
“If Russia were to cut pipelines in the Baltic Sea it would damage those that bring Norwegian gas to Europe, not the pipelines it owns and which give it some leverage.
Russia thus surely has no plausible interest in sabotaging the Nord Stream system. Others though do have such interests.”
