Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump claiming a president can declassify information by thinking about it showed how dangerous he is to the national security of the United States.
Last week on Fox News, Trump said, “There doesn’t have to be a process, as I understand it. You know, there’s different people who say different things. As I understand, there doesn’t have to be. If you’re the president of the United States, you can declassify just by saying, ‘It’s declassified.’ Even by thinking about it.

Semantics. There is no classified material for an ex-president. Of course he would not declassify. That would mean it is available to everyone.
This whole dog and pony is overshadowed with terminology that is not being used. The DOJ does not have any higher clearance to examine the documents to determine the level of clearance theose documents should be assigned. There are criteria to determine the level of security from sensitive to compartmental, but that has to be applied each time the world changes and the proper language used to make determinations.
But, No credible evidence has emerged that Mr. Trump issued any standing order to declassify everything he happened to take from the Oval Office, and national security legal specialists have greeted the notion with disdain. Glenn S. Gerstell, the top lawyer for the National Security Agency from 2015 to 2020, said the idea that whatever Mr. Trump happened to take upstairs each evening automatically became declassified — without logging what it was and notifying the agencies that used that information — was “preposterous.”
But, even though it is not smart to do anything involving security that way, for the coordination of the documents alone, word of mouth, there is also nothing in writing that says he can’t. There is a recommended process reviewing the documents as much as line by line, and should be used for compartmental level documents for everyone’s protection, but it is not a cut in stone process. And the procedures for this part of our security have been squandered in executive orders that are not public law. Executive Orders state mandatory requirements for the Executive Branch, and have the effect of law. They are issued in relation to a law passed by Congress or based on powers granted to the President in the Constitution and must be consistent with those authorities. But they cannot reverse a congressional or Constitutional previous determination of laws that are signed into the books. Very confusing Trump should have taken the action of going through the declassification process if just for appearance to stop the appearance the liberals can proclaim. It’s an invitation to a headache.

I think the dims are walking into another trap. After they make a big deal of him of not following procedure by “thinking” docs into declass he will show the actual paperwork declassifying everything.
And regardless, she was never president.
Bill Clinton declassified 90% of the nuclear test video from the 50-60’s.
Not only is Trump correct, but because that power comes directly from the Constitution, Congress cannot override it. And no court can (legally) say anything different.
Of course, they’ll try. And it will wind its way through courts. But the SC will side with Trump, as it uas throughout our history.

Adam Schiff - Trump while President could give a speech and in that speech release ‘classified’ information. Ans while he was speaking the information would be declassified.
It’s what happens when the TOP GUY in government makes the choice what to do with information that is gathered for his sake.
