The Russians Spent Months Forming A New Army Corps. It Lasted Days in Ukraine
Forbes ^ | 15th September 2022 | David Axe

The Kremlin this summer scrambled to form a new army corps, seeking replacements for 80,000 troops injured or killed in Ukraine and 5,000 wrecked or captured vehicles.

...As Russian casualties exceeded 50,000 this spring, the Kremlin began scraping together fresh battalions by raiding the training and garrison establishment of existing brigades. At the same time, the army announced an initiative to form scores of new regional volunteer battalions—and even offered elevated salaries of up to $5,000 a month.

This should come as no surprise. The recruitment drive behind the 3rd AC collided with Russia’s unhappy demographics and conscription practices. Roughly half of the 900,000 people in the Russian army forces are professionals on long-term contracts. The other half is conscripts between the ages of 18 and 27

elements of the 3rd AC in late August deployed to Kharkiv Oblast where, a week later, a dozen Ukrainian brigades launched a powerful counteroffensive that, in a heavy five days, rolled Russian forces out of the oblast and back across the Russian border.

The 3rd AC was supposed to bolster Russian defenses around Kharkiv. It instead lost a few vehicles to Ukrainian attacks then joined the Russian retreat from the oblast, leaving behind tanks and BMP-2 and BTR-80 fighting vehicles.

Consider this possibility:

Who benefits most from Russia being bogged down in Ukraine, its forces destroyed and shown as weak, its Western oil and gas markets disrupted, causing Russia to sell cheap to the East? China. If the Russian center collapses, the constituent elements in Siberia and the Pacific Maritime areas, Kamchatka, etc., will set up shop on their own. Without Russian protection for these weak states, China can then annex the parts it wants over time, and the US can/will do nothing about it. China + Siberian petrochemicals is the complete package China needs for world domination. Joe and Hunter got their 30 pieces of silver. Yet fools who walked around in the Capitol are being tried for sedition.

I just looked that up. $4426 for the average. ~$55k per year. I guess I am old…but that seems crazy.

I find your questions strange because I don’t see anyone here denying that the Ukrainians have suffered massive losses. It is, after all, their country which has been invaded. What I do see is a bizarre inability for the pro-Putinistsa crowd to admit that the Russians have lost massive numbers of men and machines, have ridiculously bad training and leadership, and are lying to their own people.

You mentioned the Ukrainian air force, for instance. Well, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdrPSGk2rqY Now, I’m sure some of this is wrong, but the idea that there’s no Ukrainian air force is just wrong.

And no matter what the stats really are, the Russians are wrong for launching the invasion in the first place.

Got my souvenir edition of the Ghost of Kyiv socks yesterday, yo.

Ukraine has a few planes, nothing to the extent to provide consistent and deliberate support or cover for Ukrainian ground operations. Fact.

The name of the game in modern and post modern combat is COMBINED ARMS, and that is near non-existent from the Ukrainians. Fact.

I think you’re right....

and yet they’ve done remarkably well considering.

The Ukrainians are developing a new form of warfare relying on drones rather than planes. It probably won’t be enough, but they have shown that the Russians are vulnerable. The Ukrainians need to develop Nuclear weapons. Since the Russians have already threatened to use them, the Ukrainians are now morally and legally free to develop them.

Save Russia, get rid of Putin and leave Ukraine

They'll just have to do it the Russian way. The hard way. The Russians are going have to turn on Putin. It won't be pretty.

“remarkably well considering”.
Despite 5:1 and 10:1 kill ratios reported against them.
Lack of consistent COMBINED ARMS tactics is literally killing them like cannon fodder.

Listen, no one is diminishing that the Ukrainians are good fighters, have great fighting spirit. But the same should be openly acknowledged concerning say the Russian-allied Donbass militia, etc.

You do realize that the Russians are using more drones in the war/conflict than the Ukrainians? So why are they not likewise thrown into the category of “developing a new form of warfare”?

ZelenskyyIdiot has already asked for nukes from the US/UK/EU/NATO. Not happening. And Ukraine not going to develop them either, they don’t have the money, economy or materials. Might want to talk sh*t to the US and NATO since they ‘convinced’ the Ukrainians to get rid of the Soviet era nukes.
https://www.cato.org/blog/soviet-nukes-ukraine-bargaining-chip-not-deterrent

And the US/EU/UK/NATO threatened Russia with nukes. The point you trying to make amounts to being irrelevant.

Too bad no one informed Russia of that fact. If they had, we wouldn't have been able to read newspapers by the light of burning russian armor.

Provide sources that indicate that Russia is not using combined arms cause last I checked, in most operations conducted by actual Russian forces or by the PMC Wagner group, which is currently taking Bakhmut, they are provided artillery, air cover/support, armored and mech assets along with ground forces.

"Provide sources that indicate that Russia is not using combined arms"

I apologize. The russians probably are using combined arms in some form or other, they're just using them in their typical mongoloid fashion. The burnt out hulks of russian armor are a testament to their incompetence.

That said, a few online pictures posted via various social websites, etc. infers what? That indeed Russian tanks are being destroyed. Heads up yo, its a war/conflict. Hello!?

But riddle me this:

If all is well with the Ukrainians arse-kicking Russia back to the very gates of the Kremlin, why is ZelenskyyIdiot steadily demanding and begging the US, the EU, Germany, and NATO for tanks, for planes, more more military hardware?

I mean geez, according to the CIA/MI6 fronts ORYX, Bellingcat, and the entire West/EU/UK/US/NATO propaganda ridden media, Ukrainian losses of military hardware such as tanks and planes and artillery are MINIMAL. If such was actually true, why is that Ukraine is incessantly demanding and begging for more billions, more tanks, more planes, more artillery, etc from the US, UK, EU, NATO?!

Ukraine had the second largest army in Europe and was trained well enough and had equipment enough and the manpower enough to probably have kicked the arse of any NATO army outside of maybe Turkiye. Then they ran into the Russians.

Maybe he borrowed a page from Stalin's book, who whined incessantly for more and more help from the Allies when he was fighting the invading nazis.

Zelensky doesn't need to go to Moscow, he just needs to outlast the russians' will to fight, and/or someone tosses Putin's ass out of a third-floor window. More dead russians hastens that day.

"Going to respond to the question posed to you?"

I did. Stalin begged for help until the invaders were destroyed; Zelensky wants help until the invaders are gone. And if the Ukrainians were such a large military force, why did Putin prepare his invasion like he would be fighting some paper tiger. He really stepped on his own crank.
