The Russians Spent Months Forming A New Army Corps. It Lasted Days in Ukraine
Forbes ^ | 15th September 2022 | David Axe

The Kremlin this summer scrambled to form a new army corps, seeking replacements for 80,000 troops injured or killed in Ukraine and 5,000 wrecked or captured vehicles.

...As Russian casualties exceeded 50,000 this spring, the Kremlin began scraping together fresh battalions by raiding the training and garrison establishment of existing brigades. At the same time, the army announced an initiative to form scores of new regional volunteer battalions—and even offered elevated salaries of up to $5,000 a month.

This should come as no surprise. The recruitment drive behind the 3rd AC collided with Russia’s unhappy demographics and conscription practices. Roughly half of the 900,000 people in the Russian army forces are professionals on long-term contracts. The other half is conscripts between the ages of 18 and 27

elements of the 3rd AC in late August deployed to Kharkiv Oblast where, a week later, a dozen Ukrainian brigades launched a powerful counteroffensive that, in a heavy five days, rolled Russian forces out of the oblast and back across the Russian border.

The 3rd AC was supposed to bolster Russian defenses around Kharkiv. It instead lost a few vehicles to Ukrainian attacks then joined the Russian retreat from the oblast, leaving behind tanks and BMP-2 and BTR-80 fighting vehicles.

Putin seems to be aiming to destroy Russia.

Save Russia, get rid of Putin and leave Ukraine

The one thing I've learned during this war is: take the Russian casualty numbers from Ukrainian/Western sources, divide by five, and then you're in the ballpark.

You didn't actually "learn" that. That's just you making up random math because you refuse to believe in massive Russian losses despite all the evidence to the contrary. Meanwhile, the Russkies claim to have destroyed more HIMARs, drones, tanks, jets, etc., more than Ukraine ever had in stock to begin with, which of course you take as Gospel.

Nothing more than continued West/NATO/US/EU/UK propaganda disseminated for gullible uninformed Western audience cause most of the world outside of their cancerous influence does not believe it or is outright calling BS. Period.

Where are all the bodies then? You’d think tens of thousands of them would be stinking up the place by now. I doubt Russia has that much free time to dig graves, what with the Ukrainian Army “chasing” them out of Ukraine. 😝

The western media finally admitted to Ukraine losing 3,000 to 6,000 men (although the casualties are far greater IMO), but we’re supposed to believe Russia has lost 10 times that number? 🤣

The great indicator is a PoW count. They say thousands of Russians surrendered and yet the Russians hold in exceed of 10,000, Ukraine barely scrapes dozens for exchange.

Russia and tossing warm bodies at their war problems is a time tested strategy.

Supposedly there are mobile cremation trucks in the logistical convoys of the Russians, but its hearsay from some random article posted here months ago.

“Supposedly” which falls into the same category of all them China ‘rumors’ that inundated these boards yesterday.

Well played, well played indeed.

“Tossing warm bodies”....
Apparently, you are not a person who has been in the military or not even a student of history either.

Was Grant ‘tossing warm bodies’ during the Civil War?
Was not the US ‘tossing warm bodies’ during the Vietnam War?
Was not the US, the Brits, etc. ‘tossing warm bodies’ during WWII?

I could go on tho........

That could very well be. Klaus Schwab did mention that Putin was one of his students.

If the stories of Russian losses are BS, then why has Putin taken the drastic step of mobilization? And why are Russian men now desperately fleeing abroad rather than accept conscription?

Why is Ukraine on its 7th mobilization?

If Ukraine has not lost all them tanks and planes, etc., that the West/US/EU/UK/NATO propaganda ridden media and pro-Ukrainian propaganda peddlers claim heIdiot and Ukraine have not lost in huge numbers, why is heIdiot demanding and begging the US and NATO for?

Drastic steps?
Hardly. The mobilization coincides with the Referenda, yeah?

Desperately fleeing abroad?
Did not tens of thousands of US citizens flee to Canada, etc. during the draft of the Vietnam War.

You need to get away from circle logic traps.

And the warfighting quality of the Russians being thrown into the field will degrade even more as Putin scrapes the bottom of his barrel for those unfortunate 300k. The Ukrainians are superior warfighters, with superior training and advances weaponry. Doubtless they are highly motivated to get at them.

No from Buryatia.

As Putin’s army retreats further, Putin is killing more Russians

why has Putin taken the drastic step of mobilization?

Putin put limitations on the original SMO because he wanted an early negotiated settlement with Ukraine. And the plan almost worked! On March 29th in Istanbul, Ukraine presented a peace proposal (concession of Crimea and Donbass, no NATO, no nukes), but quickly withdrew it at the urging of the US State Department (the ghoulish Victoria Nuland had not seen enough dead bodies yet and she did not want her pet project subverted). Russia was furious at the retraction, broke off negotiations, and continued the SMO. Russia then learned after Ukraine's counteroffensive in September that objectives in Ukraine would have to met with a larger force and less restrictions (Plan B). Before the war began, Putin knew Russia had the resources to escalate the fighting and end the war in Ukraine on more severe terms, if necessary.
