LOS ALAMOS, N.M. – A new report revealed on Wednesday shows dozens of scientists have left Los Alamos National Laboratory in northern New Mexico and fueled military technology innovation in China.
The shocking details show how American taxpayers may have unintentionally helped China’s military become more of a threat to the U.S. over decades, as government-funded defense research later made its way to China’s labs.
The report details how China poached talent from New Mexico and then stole American ideas for cutting-edge technology, shining a light on the security of top-secret U.S. research on sophisticated weapons at the country’s top lab.
The new private intelligence report, first obtained by NBC News, comes from Strider, a company working on protecting intellectual property.
It shows deep connections between LANL and the Chinese government. It describes a recruiting network, showing many scientists, after leaving Los Alamos, later went back to China and helped with its military innovation.

In the recent Beijing Olympics, besides the famous skiier Eileen Gu, there was another America-Chinese figure skater, Beverly Zhu Yi, who was seemingly randomly given permission to skate for China.
Her father was a famous AI researcher in the area of computer vision and pattern recognition, who was lured back to China in 2020 after 20 years at Harvard and UCLA, taking all his research with him.
Who says it was “unintentional?”

Los Alamos was handed over to U of California, Battelle Memorial Institute and U of Texas for operations and administrative control. What could possibly go wrong? It’s the same people and scientists who push for release of all data and projects (regardless of classification) in the open under the guise that it’s “science for everybody”!

Okay, first Los Alamos is NOT the countries “Top Lab”. Los Alamos has a LONG history of employees and ex-employees giving materials and information to the Chinese.
... And somehow a few of them get only small fines, most get NO CHARGES.
