Prime Minister Yair Lapid met Wednesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York with UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, who reportedly said she is considering moving the British embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Lapid expressed “his deepest condolences, on his own behalf and on behalf of the people of Israel, on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, ” congratulated Truss on taking office, and expressed “confidence that under their leadership, ties between Israel and the United Kingdom will reach new heights in various fields, in particular the economy, innovation and security,” Lapid’s office said in a statement

Prime Minister Yair Lapid has yet to take the stage at the United Nations to deliver his remarks, where he is expected to speak for the first time in years about the two-state solution, and the reactions in the political system are already turbulent. Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar, a member of Lapid’s government, criticized: “The establishment of a terrorist state in Judah And Samaria will endanger Israel’s security, the majority of the people will not allow that to happen.”
Alternate Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who formed the government with Lapid, also wrote on his Facebook account that “there is no place or logic to re-flood the idea of a Palestinian state. The government under my leadership brought about achievements without concessions in Judea and Samaria, which would endanger the security of the State of Israel. There is no room for another state between the sea and Jordan and there is no possibility or prospect for a political move with the Palestinians. Empty slogans like ‘two countries’ should remain in the 90s, along with many other fads that have passed away.”

They even called Lapid’s move “activism” within the transitional government, which according to them should manage the current affairs of the state and not condition a new policy.
