WASHINGTON (AP) — Campaigning for a northwestern Ohio congressional seat, Republican J.R. Majewski from Port Clinton presents himself as an Air Force combat veteran who deployed to Afghanistan after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, once describing “tough” conditions including a lack of running water that forced him to go more than 40 days without a shower.
Military documents obtained by The Associated Press through a public records request tell a different story.
They indicate Majewski never deployed to Afghanistan but instead completed a six-month stint helping to load planes at an air base in Qatar, a longtime U.S. ally that is a safe distance from the fighting.
Majewski’s account of his time in the military is just one aspect of his biography that is suspect. His post-military career has been defined by exaggerations, conspiracy theories, talk of violent action against the U.S. government and occasional financial duress.

Loading planes in Qatar doesn’t seem like exactly a picnic. I’d guess it could be hot, hard work.
So they are getting on a guy who actually served overseas because he’s a Trump supporter.
Yet they run to DaNang Dick Blumenthal with microphone in hand for talking points every time he speaks.
To call himself a combat veteran is an insult to the brave men and women who actually saw combat.
This ahole is only the candidate because the other 2 in primary cancelled each other out.

I can that that, after 28 years in the USAF, I've been in places that are NOT in my records.
This guy may be a MAGA, but he still appears to be a lout. Because of redistricting there is a good chance to oust Kaptur, so the GOP nominates this unattractive and dimly belligerent individual. This is akin to the Walker nomination in Georgia. Gopers are simply not serious about regular politics.

More than a couple states occasionally use snowplows on mayfly hatches, Pennsylvania to Minnesota, and even over the Mississippi River in Iowa.
Pretty much ruins fishing for a few days.
I think Viet Nam vets would laugh in your face. Us REMFs knew we weren’t combat soldiers even if there were rocket attacks and perimeter probes. Calling working on an air base in Oman a combat duty is obscene.

BS! If it's in a combat zone, it's combat duty.
Qatar is not a combat zone. I was in a combat zone (Afghanistan), but I've never heard of the term "combat duty". If you're a grunt, or in direct support of the grunts, you may or may not find yourself in combat, but it's never described as combat duty. If you spend your entire tour on base you might be called a REMF, but you're not on combat duty just because you're in the rear with the gear in a combat zone.
All that aside, this guy is a POS for trying to play up his service into something it never was. He deserves to lose if he isn't removed by the party or doesn't take himself out of the running.
My guess is when deployed to Qatar he made multiple flights to Afghanistan to load and unload. Day trips and even overnighters would not show up on his records. When I was in Iraq we constantly had air crew at the dfac from Qatar. I doubt those trips showed on their records. If that dfac got bombed (i.e. Mosul) they were just as dead.

His opponent is the incumbent, Marcy Kaptur, a Democrat who has been serving in the House since 1983. When did she served? Any combat experience? Has she ever supported anything that we care about?
Stupid people do stupid things, like voting for Kaptur. Are you going to be one of these?
