Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, who opened a criminal investigation this week into migrant flights to Martha's Vineyard, said Tuesday that the solution to the ongoing migrant crisis is to open up more legal pathways for people to come to the United States.
"At some point, you’re going to have to embrace that this is happening to a certain extent. I would say, look, you’ve got people who want to work… and you've got a shortage of workers," he told CNN on Tuesday.
"Hire these folks. Give them the opportunity to work legally, and then make sure that the employers that are employing them are doing it the right way and paying them correctly. And then here’s the catch: tax them on it."
Salazar, a Democrat, said that some migrants should be denied if the vetting process determines that they have a "criminal" or "terrorist" background.
"But people who just want to do a hard day’s work for a hard day’s pay – bring them on in and let’s put them to work," he told CNN. He noted that migrants could be hired to reduce restaurant wait times in San Antonio

I think I heard it on Howie Carr’s shpw but Marthas Vineyard had 50 ads for jobs posted in their local newspaper perfect for the mew arrivals. Yet, not one was even given the opportinity to apply! No way Jose!
can the governor of Texas fire this moron?
Maybe a lone wolf kook. Maybe Soros is doing for sheriffs what he did for DAs.
I have no evidence for this, but it is something to watch for, and it would be a logical extension.
A cynic might suggest, this guy is in the back pocket or the pay of the cartels.
If he’s the Bexar County sheriff, then he has more things to do than investigate DeSantis. He needs to do his job and stop illegal immigration, and not worry about Ron DeSantis.
He’s an obvious liberal ass who doesn’t understand basic laws. Entering the country illegally makes you illegal. Giving jobs to illegals is illegal... Laws 101.
A Democrat sheriff in Texas?
It is against the law to hire illegal aliens and nothing an employer can do will mitigate the fact that an illegal is an illegal.
So give the illegals a job. I am sure some already are unfortunately.

I’d guess but don’t know for sure that he meets the rules/regs
for being a county sheriff. If he didn’t most likely someone
would be looking at some form of legal actions. JMO
Give away his job and all of his relatives' jobs to illegal aliens. Give away their houses and personal belongings too. They can 'embrace' that.
Could the state of Texas build a wall around Bexar County and then relocate every illegal in Texas to inside that wall? Just asking...
Send them all to Bexar county.
Jobs on Martha’s Vineyard?
I wonder if he says something similar to female rape victims in Bexar County? “Look, you’re going to get raped, that’s inevitable, why don’t you just embrace it”....
********
In Texas, elected by the voting constituents in Bexar County.
What you'll see are the beginnings of the fences, walls and concertina wire people need to use to protect themselves and their children from the gangs and dope pushers, just like most all of South America.. In another few years you won't be able to tell difference.
Check out the crime stats for San Antonio. Homicides have nearly doubled in the last year, but most other crimes have fallen substantially.(?) They're NOT enforcing the law, just like a lot of other WOKE cities. The cops, like the politicians, are bought and payed for by the cartels.
But, you know what they say about stats, you can make them say whatever you want them to say. Go through the streets of Austin and see for yourself.
Unfortunately, he is “my” sheriff. I look forward to voting against him when he is next up for re-election.
