WW3 fears as Putin prepares to go all in on Ukraine: Russia paves the way for conscription and scrambles to annex Ukrainian territories, warning the West 'all forces' will be used to defend them

Vladimir Putin appeared poised to go all-in on his war in Ukraine today, sparking fears of an escalation in fighting that could drag in NATO and spark World War Three.

In a day of rapid-fire developments, Kremlin stooges in Ukraine's Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions simultaneously announced referendums on becoming part of Russia between September 23 and 27, with the sham votes expected to easily pass.

Dmitry Medvedev, a staunch Putin ally, then vowed 'all forces of self-defence' will be used to protect what he called 'Russian territory' - teeing up a new phase in the conflict involving weapons and tactics the Kremlin has so-far held in reserve.

Underlining that point, Moscow's rubber-stamp parliament passed new laws paving the war for Putin to end his 'special military operation' and officially declare a war, allowing him to mobilise Russia's massive population into the army.

It comes after Ukraine humiliatingly routed Putin's forces to the east of Kharkiv and recaptured a swathe of territory, with the despot's allies, propagandists and political hardliners calling for an escalation amid calls for the president to resign.

Putin was said to be preparing an address to the nation tonight, Russia's national broadcaster reported, without giving any further details.

You know that the situation in Odessa resulted from a fight between violent Russian agents and other groups. People like this Russian guy were at the scene of the riot. It was like a typical Antifa style riot in the US, but the Russian agents trapped some people in the building to die.

They do that kind of thing.

"Some pro-Russian activists carried guns and fired shots during the rioting"

The people who died were trapped by the armed pro-Russian activists and agents. Some of the corrupt, pro-Russian local police helped the pro-Russian Antifa style rioters who had ambushed the pro-government soccer fans.

I used to be confused at some of the weird arguments seen on FR. Once I realized that numerous prolific posters on FR are not fluent in American English or, especially, its cultural references, no further interest was fruitful.

“stupid country not worth defending and we face a NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST.”

If Russia is okay with wiping out what it considers its own kind (Putin has said often that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people”), it would have no qualms about trying to wipe out people who are not.

A few of my fellow brats had dads who were also raised as military brats and they’ll call themselves second generation military brats.

Have you even met a "fifth generation military brat"?

Did families live on bases in 1872 when Ulysses Grant was President?

I have never met anyone who discussed their family's military history that way.

“Neocons are/were led by Linda, McCain, Neuland. You’re just a useful Republican, like 80% of the GOP Senators, the ones who hate Trump.”

Well, comrade, you sure have me pegged wrong. I did not and do not support any of those people, and am a strong Trump supporter, though I admit I voted for him in 2016 because of who he wasn’t. In 2020 I supported him enthusiastically because of what he did and who he is.

I said right here on FR, way back around the time of the McCain Palin ticket that the Republicans are no friends of the conservative. And I felt at the time like a lone voice in the wilderness. Oh, and for what it’s worth, I didn’t vote for Romney either.

And guess what? I do not support, I do not trust, and I do not like Putin, nor what he is doing. Nor do I now or have ever in the past trusted Russia or the former Soviet Union (Which was essentially just Russia running a bunch of other countries with an iron fist)

That doesn’t mean I support Soros, or Biden, or Zelensky (I know nothing about him and don’t care) but I DO have sympathies for the Ukrainian people who have been invaded, attacked, killed, imprisoned and tortured, all by Russians at the direction of your pal Putin.

You must be very young not to know what the pejorative “dink” refers to.

“There was no attempted genocide in Donbas.”

Yeah, that lie is routinely embraced by pro-Russia posters. They trot out that 14,000 in Eastern Ukraine people were slaughtered by Ukrainian forces. The truth, though, is much different. There may have been 14,000 deaths, but the majority were combat deaths involving armed belligerents, of both sides.

“Putin is a lot of things, a Communist isn’t one of them.”

Putin is for Putin; his main allegiance is to Putin.

Well, technically, neither was Stalin. He was a tyrant in every sense of the word, but only took what he wanted, and didn’t share.

He used the proletariat like cogs and spindles. Thrown away as they were used up.

But there is never a grain of truth in US propaganda for war, same as always.

This is true, as well. He had all the old Bolsheviks killed off. Some even suggest he was the one who poisoned Lenin, and caused the stroke that ultimately killed him.

totally agree
Trump held Putin in check
Trump held Xi in check
Trump held Kim in check

That is why deep state and/or the industrial military complex had to get rid of Trump. He was crimping their lifestyles.

What’s the matter with you Kremlin propagandists people?

THEY started it??
Sorry but.. where are the western or Ukrainian troops in Russia? Where ? ohh.. you dont know....
The reason is that there are none!

On the other hand... there are 200000 (two hundred thousands) communist Russian troops invading and inside Ukraine right now! So WHO is the invader here? Who?

Would you applaud Mexico if they tried to take back Texas because Texas it was part of Mexico once? It seems like you are the weak link here... you seem unwilling to fight to protect your interests.

I was in the USAF 1970-1974. I don't ever recall dependents referring to themselves in generational terms. We just called them "pukes."
