President Joe Biden plans Friday to host Elton John at the White House, in his latest attempt to seek unity and healing through music.

The White House announced the concert with the British music legend would “celebrate the unifying and healing power of music” and commend Sir Elton’s work as well as honor teachers, nurses, frontline workers, mental health advocates, students, and “LGBTQ+ advocates.”

Of all the singers from that era, the only one whose voice still pretty much sounds like it did then is Paul Rodgers.

Back in 1973 (I think) me and my buds were heading over the Walt Whitman to The Spectrum to see Johnny Winter in concert. The DJ on WMMR said "there is a new band opening for Johnny tonight called Bad Company with lead singer Paul Rogers from Free." Great show. Rogers was playing a Les Paul Junior and singing when his feet got tangled in cords and he fell flat on his back! He got up kept singing and didn't miss a beat.

My first real guitar (not a Tesco) was a white 65 Strat with original tweed case I bought at a music store (it was a trade in) in 1975 for 350 dollars. Sadly,I had to sell it years ago cause I needed money and family comes first. The guy that bought it also saw my original Big Muff distortion box and wanted that too!
