Wisconsin Senate candidate Mandela Barnes believes it is “foolish” to think the United States’ wealth was “justly earned,” a resurfaced video from 2021 revealed.
“I didn’t even get to the point about Critical Race Theory,” Barnes said in a video released by WKOW ABC over the weekend. “That’s something else too. You know, it would be foolish to assume that the wealth of America was earned justly.”
The 2021 event, held by the Portage Area Chamber of Commerce, was advertised as a question and answer session to discuss “issues of racism and systemic racism as they affect rural communities.”
“Things were bad,” Barnes also said during the event about the founding of the nation. “Things were terrible. The founding of this nation? Awful.”
The comments were revealed after Barnes stated he wants to “stymie capitalism” and free enterprise would put the world on a “path to destruction”:

Agree they can’t deal with reality they are like a child who makes up a pretend friend.
Been to the Mount Vernon a couple of times....part of the preservation of the estate are the original slave quarters.
I’m surprised the woke idiots haven’t stormed the property and burned the slave quarters down.
He wouldn’t have liked Muhammad Ali. Ali said, “Thank God my Granddaddy got on that boat!”
What is it with Wisconsin? Maybe the water needs tested? Something surely is dumbing them down!!!!
Thank you.
Goid point! I did some reading on The East India Company and Jacob Astor “king of NY” , richest people ever - opium smugglers. Kennedy family - bootleggers.
I’m so sick of race pimps.
Another example of the Mandela Defect.
It is easier to be a whining communist than to work for a living.
This liberal wants to deceptively divide us, as usual, so we miss the real truth. Some of you are falling into that trap on this very thread (as I have in the past).
We are wealthy because we are the reserve currency of the world and create money out of thin air, which allows unsustainable debt for decades. We spend much of this fiat money on war and weapons, retirement security, and the deep state. This helps, and will hurt, both sides of the fake divide.
If it wasn’t the US, it’d be someone else. Soon it will be someone else. So, authentic justice will be served.
Probably more than that. College students and recent graduates have an unjustified vastly inflated sense of self worth. They can't understand why they have nothing when with their degree in wymen's studies or black studies or some such fabulous qualifications they aren't rich. They see that the capitalist system doesn't judge you by your own view and opinion of self worth, but by what someone else is willing to pay you. So naturally the system is wrong.
Their thought processes run something like: I have a full sleeve, three nose rings and fluorescent green hair. I am my ideal. There must be something wrong with the world because they don't shower me with praise and money. IT must be the capitalist system - my professors told me it was evil and now I have the proof
Keep it up, Mandela.
The WOW Counties in Wisconsin aren’t gonna like hearing this and will vote accordingly - against you.
Slavery held back this nation like it did all others. Slavery creates a caste system with a few very rich, and the rest are basically serfs and slaves. Nothing advances because it either doesn’t need to, or is discouraged by those who have the power. It was the elimination of slavery which launched the ingenuity which caused the industrial revolution which created all the wealth and advancements we enjoy today. It was capitalism, giving people the incentive to better their own lives rather than a faceless and souless master or state, which created all those things we now take for granted in the first place
I agree, but you need to move the time period back to 170 years. The Northeastern "robber barons" were robber baronning since the early 1800s.
They also ignore the fact that a very small percentage of the pre-Civil War population owned slaves, and that most of that number owned very few.
They additionally ignore the fact that free blacks owned slaves themselves, some of them a lot of slaves.
Slavery was not and is not the only evil in the world.
And now the government has reinstated slavery via the tax system. Except the slave owners are the politicians and government apparatchicks and the slaves are the taxpayers.
I hate communism and I believe it is based on a warped ideology, but I have long wondered how some of these people arrive at their thinking on some of these matters.
Several decades ago I gained a little insight into how they see the world.
A friend and I were discussing how at the time there was a recent spike in oil prices. He said "His mother is going to love this." I asked why. He said she was already making $ 18,000.00 per month in oil royalties, and this would just make her even more money.
I thought to myself, "$18,000.00 per month?" What did she do to earn this money? Did she put the oil into the ground herself?
Why are some people entitled to a vast wealth produced from natural resources and others are not?
Of course her wealth is built on the legal structure we have all inherited, but for people who are forced to work for a living, it is quite bothersome to see someone born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
I said to myself, "This must be how the socialists view things, and I cannot help but feel this message can resonate with some people."
Most whites before the Civil War did not own slaves--none in the "free states" and only a minority in the "slave states." Most whites were dirt farmers working hard every day, or working in a factory or on a railroad, etc. A lot of present-day American whites are descended from people who immigrated to the US after slavery was abolished.
A small number of Southern whites became very wealthy as a result of forced labor by their slaves on their plantations, but a lot of that wealth was destroyed in the Civil War.
