WORLDUkraine Forces Take Control of Key River Bank, Extending Advance in East {Oskil river - crossed over from Kupyiansk)
Wall Street Journal ^ | 19th September 2022 | Ian Lovett

...now control the eastern bank of the Oskil River in the Kharkiv region, while Moscow continues to launch attacks against civilian infrastructure in Ukraine following its military setbacks in the country’s east.

Strategic Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces posted a video on social media on Sunday that appeared to show an armored vehicle crossing the river, along with the message, “Ukraine controls the left bank.”

The claim suggests Ukraine’s push east is continuing after its forces seized about 3,500 square miles of territory in the northeastern Kharkiv region in a lightning offensive earlier this month that put Moscow on the back foot.

Ukrainian troops are now within about 20 miles of the Luhansk region, which Moscow captured months ago and whose seizure the Kremlin has repeatedly called one of its priorities for the war in Ukraine.

....Russian forces, meanwhile, established a new defensive line between the river and the town of Svatove in the Luhansk region over the weekend, according to the British ministry of defense. The ministry said Russia would likely defend the area aggressively after suffering a swift rout in the Kharkiv region, allowing Ukrainian forces to seize huge swaths of land in just a few days.

Battlefield setbacks have continued for Moscow. The British Ministry of Defense said Russia had lost at least four combat jets in Ukraine within the last 10 days, for a total loss of around 55 jets since the start of the invasion.

Note how Russia in Feb had the goal of taking over Kyiv, installing a puppet government? That failed

then their goals from March onwards to grab land in the east was reduced over and over again

And now even that land in the east is being lost

Please enlighten us what exactly is ‘civilian infrastructure’?

Is it the same ‘civilian infrastructure’ that is utilized by the military? Hello?!

No one had any issues when the US destroyed ‘civilian infrastructure’ in the opening of the Iraq War, Kosovo War or any other war/conflict but all of a sudden it is decried and bemoaned in this war/conflict?

Can idiots be anymore hypocritical when even remotely bringing or asserting ‘civilian infrastructure’ in this Ukrainian-Russia war/conflict? In the end, if that ‘civilian infrastructure’ is being utilized by the military, it ceases to be off limits. Period.

Given that the first casualty of war is the truth, how can we know what to believe (from the press) about this conflict?

As usual, comments by cranked are no more than vomit on a keyboard that some how gets mistaken as words.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphite_bomb

Graphite bomb BLU-114/B.

A graphite bomb is intended to be a non-lethal weapon used to disable an electrical grid. The bomb works by spreading a dense cloud of extremely fine, chemically treated carbon filaments over air-insulated high voltage installations like transformers and power lines, causing short-circuits and subsequent disruption of the electricity supply in an area, a region or even an entire small country. The weapon is sometimes referred to as blackout bomb or as soft bomb because its direct effects are largely confined to the targeted electrical power facility, with minimal risk of immediate collateral damage.

You mean like the butterfly bomblets/mines that the Ukrainians are dropping?

‘The West is silent as Ukraine targets civilians in Donetsk using banned ‘butterfly’ mines’

Great post... it appears the Ukrainians are consolidating their recent gains in Kharkiv and are beginning to press forward again.

You know you are flying right over target when one is personally attacked and not the message.

Yeah, I would much rather you attack me rather than attack actual fact. Awesome sauce.

You mean like the butterfly bomblets/mines that the Ukrainians are dropping?

https://observers.france24.com/en/europe/20220817-ukraine-russia-donetsk-petal-butterfly-antipersonnel-mines

"Numerous photos and videos were posted on social media in late July showing dozens of small PFM-1 “petal” mines in Russian-occupied Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine. The posts were accompanied by comments expressing outrage and fear that the mines – hard to see on sidewalks or in the grass – would be deadly to civilians. But it remains unclear whether Ukraine or Russia was responsible for dispersing these controversial weapons."

"Meanwhile, HRW has seen no evidence that Ukraine has used the mines, an action that would amount to a violation of the Ottawa Treaty. Still, accusations against both sides have flourished."

"There is little chance of definitively determining exactly who placed the mines that have been photographed in Donetsk. The priority in the region has been to clear the mines – often in ways that make them unrecognisable, precluding identification through serial numbers or manufacturing indications."

More keyboard vomit.

I’m right over my target by attacking communist propaganda and you’re fecklessly defending it. No shame there, comrade?

Keyboard vomit is relative to user.

Again, the premise was ‘civilian infrastructure’ and you, as par, you deviate from the actual discussion I made.

Want a Kleenex of maybe a paper towel for you own ‘keyboard vomit’?

Sources are sources to you knuckleheads right?

Oppps, my bad, them sources only become disputable if they don’t adhere to or advocate the prevailing narrative, yeah?

The Rashit bots are not conservatives, they are the extreme right (or Austin leftists role playing "conservatives" as a Texas conservative I know, called it) and a very apt demonstration of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe_theory in work.

Namely that the far right and far left have more in common with each other than the middle.

You Banderites are all the same.

But again, you know you are right over the target when you have 2 or more personally attacking you and not the message.

I appreciate the compliment, Banderites.

Cranked,

You and the rest of the Putin fans in here are among those who summarily dismiss news reports — regardless of the source — of the success of the Ukraine operations as propaganda, yet you turn and reference communist garbage like “MROnline.” You seem to have at least a modicum of intellect that should lift you beyond that type of laughable hypocrisy.

Oops, my bad for such high expectations.

But... please do continue...it’s good entertainment.

Civilian infrastructure is infrastructure explicitly created primarily for civilians.

As you don’t seem to understand the difference between the Brooklyn bridge and military pontoon bridges, it is no wonder that your countrymen under Putin don’t understand it either
