A new poll out Thursday shows GOP incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski in a dead heat to keep her seat against Republican candidate Kelly Tshibaka, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump. According to the poll from Fabrizio Ward and Impact Research, commissioned by AARP, Murkowski leads on the final round of balloting by a mere three votes among the 1,050 likely voters surveyed.
“It is an understatement to call that within the margin of error,” the pollsters wrote in their report, noting “10 percent of voters did not rank either of those candidates in the final round.”
The survey was conducted by phone with a +/- 4.4 percent margin of error between Sept. 6-11.
Under Alaska’s unusual and complicated ranked-choice voting system first used this year, the top four candidates from the open-party primary compete in the general election among voters, who “rank” their preferences on the ballot. If no candidate receives a majority, or 50 percent of the first-choice ballots case, the votes are re-tabulated again after eliminating the lowest vote-getter. The lost candidate’s ballots are then counted towards the voters’ second-choice pick, and the process is repeated until a candidate reaches more than 50 percent.
According to the AARP survey, Tshibaka holds a 13 percent lead over Murkowski with 43 percent of the vote to 35 percent, while Democrat Patricia Chesbro comes behind at 13 percent followed by Republican Buzz Kelley at 1 percent. Seven percent reported they were undecided.
Kelley dropped out of the race Monday and endorsed Tshibaka, who is also running with the support of the state party.

Sounds like the thread Lizzy was hanging by. But I presume that the RINOs will have figured out a way to ensure that the voters of the State of Alaska elect someone a majority didn't pick.
Some undoubtedly will settle for Murkowski hanging period.
AKs needs to stand up and show they’re not going to take it anymore.
Surely ranked voting is unconstitutional. Can’t the courts do anything about that?
Can someone post the picture of Feinstein having Murkowski pinned against the wall.
Alaska has that stupid rank choice voting system.
That was nice to wake up to!
Thanks for your posts. We the People just might be gaining some ground. :)
I sure think it is a violation of one man one vote. It’s sort of a weighted average fractional voting system with the algorithm written by 23 year old coding jocks who have figured out how to adjust the parameters to maximize the swindle.
I believe these types of phone polls heavily favor democrats.
What with "us" Conservatives being labeled as terrorist by the government, I and everyone else I know, do not answer pollsters if/when they call. I have no faith that they will honestly count my vote - if not turn me over to the feds.
That and doesn't one need a land line to participate in political polls? Who in this day and age still has a land line?
Yes, we’ve been posting about RCV and warning against it. Just so everyone knows, RCV is designed to defeat MAGA candidates and default to moderates.
But Alaskans let Murkowski in the door before RCV, they need to make sure she’s locked out permanently.
And about that ranked voting system. I just read that you can still vote for just one candidate. If that's the case...doing that might be the way to go.
Someone hlp me out with this thought.
Dump Murky,,,,,she said she would vote with the dems. Make her repay RNC funds used to get elected as a Republican, her real intentions are well known now.
Send money to Kelly
Send Skeletor to the deep freeze
Rank voting will pull her through ,LOL
We have RCV in Maine and yes you are correct, you can cast your vote for one person and not any other candidates for second, third etc.
No. Elections are up to the states, as specified in the Constitution.
Ranked voting which Alaska did just to keep this idiot in power….
Can get crushed in first round but still wind up as the winner.
Does anyone know if you can vote for the same person as first and second in ranked-voting?
