Look, having Captain America as an American superhero enables the continued oppression of millions of Native Americans, POC, women, LGBTQRSTUV and tenured college professors. So in for a penny, in for a pound. Let's oppress everyone!

She shoots quills at people. Uses poor Palestinians for target practice, no doubt.

Well, some anti-Israel types are “outraged,” but they’re always “outraged”.

The boring books were used to hide the comic books.

I liked Shira Haas in “Shtisel”, but the stupid “unorthodox” show was so stupid and inaccurate I can’t stand to look at her any more.
For those who are wondering, this actress is no Gal Gadot. She has some sort of disease that caused her to be very small and undeveloped. She’s an adult who looks like an ugly 12 year old.
Put this on your skip list. Go watch “Fauda”. Best show on TV for action.

She was the rebellious daughter who married the ascetic scholar in Shtisel? She was great in that. As for “unorthodox,” the previews turned me off.

Marvel has been successful, while DC has mostly floundered. Why? I believe it is because Warner bough DC back in the early '70s. From the first Superman movie (Puzo's script was AWFUL) on, they treated 40 year old comic book legends as licensed properties to be placed in the movie Warner felt like making.
Marvel generally treated their movies like on-screen comic books, even storyboarding the movies like a comic book.
“While our characters and stories are inspired by the comics, they are always freshly imagined for the screen and today’s audience
Now, Disney is going to go on making Disney movies with licensed Marvel characters. They are done.

DC has produced some great Batman movies and TV shows. I’m watching Gotham for the second time, and it’s still fresh. Superman, I never was into much. He’s a cheap imitation of G-d; lots of power, but not infinite power, and no existential intimacy. But Batman has some real depth. He’s a wounded boy, trying to bring justice into an unjust world that prefers corruption and evil. He has skill, he has gizmos and he has allies, but the deck is still stacked against him, and he keeps on fighting. It’s a franchise that can’t be exhausted.

I had a large wicker basket full of DC comic books. Marvel was not around. DC was Superman and Batman. Never once did my parents say anything about my comic book collection. Because they saw that this was how I was learning to read.

Comic book creators and movie makers appear to want to offend their previous largest group of consumers - teenage boys and young men. Absolute insanity.
