Two years ago, as violent protests shook Asheville and other cities after George Floyd was murdered while in Minneapolis police custody, the Asheville City Council and the Buncombe County Commission passed resolutions in support of reparations for Black residents, to make amends for historic discrimination. Acting at the same time, California established a task force to study and develop a plan for reparations in that state.
Last week, the task force overseeing California’s reparations effort released the first part of its work: a landmark 500-page report documenting nearly two centuries of systemic discrimination imposed by the state, the harm it caused, and what needs to be done to attempt to address that harm.

Although bad enough..aint nothing compared to what Spain did all through south and central America and southwest USA.
Hell, a good number of people that live in Asheville are California liberals.
I wish DeSantis and Abbott would send about 5 bus loads each to Asheville. Drop them off at the Grove Park Inn. They’ll be on buses to Charlotte faster than they were deported from the Vineyard.
Some brown people are allowed to remain on the island. Obviously the Soetero’s.
But the rest live in the Oaks Bluff area of the island. Basically, where all the help lives.

Wish they’d go through. Then document how fast all the liberals start raising bell about their money being stolen to pay.

Add to that the Portuguese in Brazil, the French, English, and Dutch in the Caribbean. In all those places, it was three crops a year and the average male slave lived about seven years. The plantation owners deliberately worked the slaves to death. This only changed because the flow of fresh male slaves dried up due to the Royal Navy’s anti-slavery patrols.
And let’s not mention Africa or Asia.
But bringing that up is “RACIST! RACIST!! RACIST!!!” to the Wokesters. Why? Because it diminishes the priority that American black activists (BLM, CRT types, etc.) feel must be placed on addressing their complaints. And that means addressing them FIRST!
After they’ve got their payoff…er, … reparations, then maybe those other folks can have some too.
George Floyd was certainly not murdered.
Asheville has no middle class. There are no jobs in Asheville for young people. There is a trustafarian class of trust fund kids endowed by there parents. There a class of people who are retirees from the Northeast and Florida.
No middle class in Asheville. Service industry city. And, it did not used to be that way.
Now, there are young people who are not trust fund kids who chose to live in Asheville, but their economic prospects are bleak.
It's better than that. There were thousands of blacks who were slave owners. Most whites owned no slaves. So some descendants of slave owners want some descendants of those who never owned slaves to pay them money? These people are crazy liberals.
