They missed the largest monument to General Lee, his home in Arlington. Why didn’t they recommend razing it? I guess they don’t care thaaaat much.
What these people willingly ignore is that these memorials are in situ historical artifacts in themselves and that they tell a story about America and most importantly as in the case of the memorial at Arlington, they tell an important story about reconciliation between North and South after the Civil War, the eventual coalescing around a common American experience and the eventual respect between friend and foe.
I understand they are controversial (what isn’t these days) but there also is deep positive meaning behind these monuments for those who bother to ponder them. We have become so jaded and obsessed with virtue signaling that we no longer can see anything other than what we want to see.
Uh, it is located on the property of a Confederate general. Soldiers from BOTH armies were buried there, ON PURPOSE. Can’t we even leave the dead alone? These people are sick - if they hate this country so much, they should live in China or Venezuela. Besides, if you erase history, how can you learn from it?

By Leftist logic, to fully erase “bad” history, all of Arlington National Cemetery should be dug up and moved as the grounds are the former home of Gen. Lee. The house itself, obviously, must be demolished. Perhaps the ground should be salted to prevent even grass from growing.
Arlington was Lee’s plantation. Maybe they should bulldoze it and turn it into a waste treatment plant.
